Marilyn Sharp Campbell, 66 of Dry Creek, entered into eternal rest on January 30, 2010 at St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010,with a visitation from 10 a.m until service time at the First United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder. The Reverends Zale Lewis, Jeff Phillips and Curt Iles will officiate. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday February 1, 2010 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home 210 North Pine Street, DeRidder, LA 70634.
She was born on February 9, 1943 in DeRidder, Louisiana and moved to Dry Creek when she married Julian Campbell on December 23, 1959. She attended DeRidder High School through her eleventh year and graduated from Dry Creek High School.
Married 50 years to Julian Campbell of Dry Creek and co-owner of Campbell's Canoe Rental for 29 years and a former employee of the Beauregard Parish School Board Cafeteria.
She is survived by her husband Julian Campbell of Dry Creek, Louisiana; her sister Carolyn Elliott, and husband Ronald, of Alexandria, Louisiana; her children Tim Campbell, and wife, Jackie, of Coushatta, Louisiana, Kim Taylor, and husband Michael, of DeRidder, Louisiana, Kay Fox, and husband Nick, of Dry Creek, Louisiana, Keri Jones, and husband Daniel, of Denham Springs, Louisiana; her grandchildren Timothy, Jameson, Cameron, Caidon, and Colton Campbell; Jared, Trent and Kimily Taylor; Ryan, Megan and Logan Fox; Juliana Lyn Jones.
She participated in the following clubs and organizations:
Family Life Chairman, Beauregard Volunteers for Family and Community Council (VFC), President, Dry Creek VFC Club, 2009 Woman of the Year, Dry Creek VFC Club, Volunteer, Crisis Pregnancy Center, Volunteer, Beauregard Parish 4-H Achievement Day, Board Member, Beauregard Parish Fair Board Association, Coordinator of Ward Eight Fair Booth, Member, Concerned Women of America
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Emerson and Eugenia Sharp.
