Ali Mai Banks Dalton
My Baby Girl
Our kind and beloved daughter, mother, sister, niece, granddaughter and friend, Alida "Ali", age 28, was tragically taken away from us. She died September 22, 2012.
Ali was born May 16, 1984 in Salt Lake, a daughter of Loni Mishelle (Richard) Iker and Evan Banks, and Scott and Leslie Duke.
Ali graduated from Granite High School, class of 2002. Later she married Derek Dalton; together they had two beautiful children, Natalie and Zachariah, both born in Salt Lake.
Ali was a member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed doing bead work and making jewelry, Facebook, reading, writing poetry, and shopping. Most of all, Ali loved her children and her family. She had a very bubbly personality and was always laughing. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children: Natalie Dalton age 8 and son Zach age 5 of Salt Lake; parents, Loni Mishelle (Richard) Iker of Springville, Evan D. Banks of Salt Lake City, and Scott and Leslie Duke of West Jordan; sisters, Jessica Bushman (Jared) of North Carolina, Scotlynn Duke of West Jordan and Brittany Wailes of Salt Lake; grandparents: Bill J. Parson of West Jordan, Arvil and Dawna Banks of Salt Lake, Mike and Sarah Choate of West Jordan; parents-in-law, Pete and Bona Rose of West Valley, Tom and Lynette Dalton of West Valley and many extended family.
She was preceded in death by grandmother, Arlene Virginia Frye and her aunt, Laurie Duke-Hallet.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, with a viewing one hour prior to services. A Child Of Mine by Edgar Albert Guest, 1930

I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while she lives,
And mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call her back,
Take care of her for Me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief.
You'll have her lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over,
In search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love,
Nor think the labour vain.
Nor hate me when I come
To take her home again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
'Dear Lord, Thy will be done!'
For all the joys Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for her,
Much sooner than we've planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.

Letter From Heaven

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say... but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you." It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on. I need you here badly; you're part of my plan. There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight. God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before. There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too... that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain, then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain." And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile, knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile. So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free, remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ali,
If we could bring you back again,
For one more hour or day,
We'd express all our unspoken love;
We'd have countless things to say.

If we could bring you back again,
We'd say we treasured you,
And that your presence in our lives
Meant more than we ever knew.

If we could bring you back again,
To tell you what we should,
You'd know how much we miss you now,
And if we could, we would.

May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate your life with Ali.

"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
Ali was always so full of light, I loved working with her and getting to know her better outside of work. she always had a smile and made me laugh. I am glad to have known her and saddened that this world has lost such a bright soul. god speed Ali

Here is to a beautiful soul,
The kind that all should get to know,
All are sad to see you leave,
Many who mourn, many who grieve.

Don't be sad to leave us behind,
Yet, don't lose us from your mind,
And remember all of us from long ago,
Comfort us when we are sad and low.

We will see you when we get there,
Until then let us all prepare,
For that special day when we reunite,
Where wishes come true, and dreams take flight.
