HARRISON PRICE Obituary

Harrison Price "Ted" Harrison Theodore (Ted) Price was called home by his Father in Heaven on April 19, 2010 at his home in Murray, Utah surrounded by his loving family. Ted, the oldest of four boys, was born June 3rd, 1925 to Laura Bucklin and Henry Price in Atlanta, Idaho. At the age of nine, Ted's father was killed in a mining accident in Merced, California, and Laura moved with her sons to Salt Lake City, Utah. When World War II broke out, Ted joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and fought bravely on Tarawa, Saipan, and then on Tinian where, though severely burned in an explosion, he was blessed with a miraculous recovery. After the war, Ted returned to Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah, and in its 1947 centennial year was crowned Mr. Utah. Ted was the first of five missionaries called to the newly opened LDS mission in Japan where he served for four years. Upon his release, he met his long-time sweetheart Ramona Calvert in Hawaii, where they were married in the Temple for time and eternity on February 2nd, 1951. In 1976, Ted retired from his position as the District Director for the Immigration and Naturalization Service covering all of Asia in order to answer the call to serve as the Tokyo Japan Mission President. Over the years, he and Ramona served four more missions; as Mission President of the Japanese Missionary Training Center in Tokyo, in the Tokyo, Japan and Manila, Philippines Temples, and as missionaries to New Zealand. Between missions, he served as Bishop of the Murray 23rd Ward. Ted is survived by his wife, Ramona Price; his five children: Mark Price, Deborah Cloward (Jerry), Stephen Price (Laura), Matt Price and Angela Aggeler (Brian); 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two brothers: Oliver Price (Josie) and Ivan Lines (Nancy); and many other extended family, friends, and associates whose lives he has touched and influenced in incalculable ways. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray 23rd Ward, 755 E Three Fountains Dr., Murray Utah. A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Caregiver Support Network Home Health & Hospice services, 310 E. 4500 South, Suite 200, Murray, Utah, 84107. The Price family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful people at the Caregiver Support Network Home Health & Hospice, and to the doctors and staff of the Utah Veteran's Administration Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion toward our beloved father and his family. With fond memories to a wonderful example of stewardship and testimony under whose hands conferred me to the Melchizedek Priesthood to later serve as a missionary in the Japan Tokyo South Mission. I will always be grateful to President Price for his testimony that changed my life in a very positive way. It will be an honor to meet you again after this mortal life.

Dear Ramona and children,

I am so sorry to learn of Bishop Price's passing. I knew he was in frail heaalth and that you were taking good care of him, as always. I wasn't aware of the day of the funeral or I would have had some of my children bring me there. I would love to have seen and spoken to your family!

You have both been such excellent examples of gospel devotion and service and I often think of some of the lessons that B. Price taught. You too were an outstanding model of patience and steady approach to life and its challenges.

May you be comforted in future days and know that you are loved and supported by many friends.

Dear Ramona and Family,

I was deeply saddened to learn of Ted’s passing. What a remarkable and dynamic man he is! I loved hearing the stories of his life at the beautiful memorial service, celebrating his life today. I know he is pleased, since it fulfilled the wishes Deborah said he’d expressed.

I have such pleasant memories of the time we served together in Stake Relief Society and am so grateful for the opportunity that calling gave me to become better acquainted with you. I greatly respect and admire both of you. You are an extraordinary team that has left a legacy of spirituality, love and service worthy of emulation by all of us. I value your friendship very highly and am thankful that friendship is of an eternal nature.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the difficult days ahead as you cope with this loss. While I know from experience that the longing for the earthly companionship of your eternal sweetheart never goes away, I also know that cherished memories and hope for the future through our faith and knowledge we share of the Plan of Happiness bring comfort and peace. I pray that the love and concern of friends and family will help to ease the burden of your sorrow.

With love and deepest sympathy,

Pat Griffiths

Sister Price,
My husband served in the Air Force and was stationed at Yokota AFB, Japan in 1977-1979. While serving in leadership positions in the Yokota servicemen's branch, we had the priviledge of attending meetings and having personal interviews with "President Price." He was truly an inspired leader and teacher, and a wonderful man. I also remember messages you left with us that, even after all of these years, have remained in my heart. Thanks for the service you rendered and for sharing this wonderful man with us. You have influenced many more lives than you know. I truly understand how difficult this time can be. My prayers are with you.

Dearest Ramona and family:
Ted was a great influence in all of our
lives - as are you! Thanks for all your loving ways and caring deeds.
With your strong testimony of the Lord's goodness - you know 'passing'
is not the 'end of this life'
May God give you His choicest
Blessings - which you so richly
deserve by your faithfulness.
You both have been choice friends
and neighbors.
Much love - Irene Hulse Mitchell

Brother Price was a great spiritual influence to LDS Servicemen and families in the Kanto Plains. He bore a wonderful testimony of the Gospel to us all. We were stationed at Tachikawa AFB from Feb. 65 to Feb. 68. We had some great Church leaders and he was one of them. He is unforgettable!

Ted, you were my Father and counsel for many years. Your influence has guided me forward. My love for you was profound and my heart is saddened by this moment in time but knows that you are where you lived your entire life worthy to be. You will be missed here but I look forward to the day we re-unite in the glorious presence of our Heavenly Father.

Ramona, Mark, Deborah, Steve, Matt, and Angie and all your extended families, You have my sympathy at this time and my love.

To all the Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren...I know you will miss your treasured Grandfather. Please live your lives by the example Ted set that you might be able to live and be with him again.
