Arthur LeRoy Swasey, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 72 on November 6, 2013 from complications due to congestive heart failure. Roy was born on February 10, 1941 to William Grant Swasey and Hulda Helen Olsen. Roy graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City and then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he successfully served a tour of duty in Japan. He was employed as a postal carrier and a school bus driver for the Salt Lake City School District. Roy also had a brief internship at a Salt Lake City radio station. He married Linda Lee Gritton in the Salt Lake Temple on November 19, 1964. Roy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a missionary in the Gulf States Mission and was faithful in numerous church callings, including Elders Quorum President, and in the Young Men's program, which he dearly loved. He was ordained a High Priest in 2013 and served as an assistant and teacher in that quorum. Roy is a brilliant man, with a passion for learning and it was known that members of the church would attend religious services, just to hear Roy teach. Roy lived the last years of his life at St. Josephs Village, in Salt Lake City where he was loved and respected, as he participated in village activities.
Roy is survived by his children Michael LeRoy, Richard Eugene, Charles Scott and Jeanette Lee Swasey and 15 grand and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Roy will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Wells Ward Chapel (1990 South 500 East, Salt Lake City, Utah). Prior to the funeral a viewing will be held at the Wells Ward Chapel from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale Utah.
