Dean Ryan Bullock
1954 ~ 2014 IronDean
South Jordan, Utah-Our loving husband, father, and grandpa, Dean Ryan Bullock, finished his last race on earth, passing away peacefully at his home surrounded by his eternal companion and 9 children on May 9, 2014. Dean was born on April 18, 1954, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to Gale and Maxine Bullock. He was the only brother to five sisters. Dean lived his life to serve others. He will always be remembered for his fun-loving, energetic, and happy personality. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including Bishop, counselor in the Young Single Adult ward, High Counselor, Scoutmaster, and many other callings. He served as a missionary in the New York City Mission from 1973-75. Upon his return, he was sealed to the love of his life Kristine Marie Koster in the Provo Temple on April 23, 1977. He graduated from BYU and began a career in label sales that spanned 34 years until his retirement in November 2013. Dean's pride and joy were Kris and his children. He would do anything for them and each child felt as if they were his favorite. He was a beloved friend to many and treated all he met with love and kindness. Dean had a passion for running and competed in many marathons and triathlons. During his two year battle with brain cancer he became affectionately known as "IronDean" and competed in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, fulfilling one of his lifelong dreams. He inspired thousands with his courage, strength, and determination. His legacy of love and service will live on through his family. Dean is survived by his sweetheart Kris and children: Ryan (Katie), Lindsey (Chris) Bentley, Jeffrey (Kim), Jordan (Clint) Duncan, Whitney (Chris) Nielson, Gregory (Alexi), Sean, Alex, Dillon, and nineteen grandchildren. We look forward to the time when we will be reunited. We love you. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Castle and brothers-in-law, Geoff Lighten and Doug Carlton.
