Donna Irene Thornton Goode, 83, of American Fork, died November 21, 2012.
Born to Ira Earl and Zella V Wright Thornton on March 15, 1929 in American Fork, Utah. She married Stanley J. Goode Feb 10, 1983 and was later sealed in the St. George LDS Temple February 20, 1987. Donna sewed all the clothing for her large family. She made rugs and crochet all her grandchildren a baby shawl. She designed and sold wedding gowns. She was an artist and painted the Nativity every year on her large living room window and won the city Christmas contest for her beautiful paintings. She created beautiful Christmas centerpieces out of boughs from her bushes and gave them as gifts. She made homemade bread and rolls twice a week and bottled hundreds of quarts of food from her garden. She wrote 150 pages of her life history and had it published for her family and friends. She worked on family histories for many years, going to the Genealogy Library several times a week. She was an amazing mom and will be dearly missed by all of her children.
Survivors include her children: VaNae Lin; Ken (Sue) Lowe; Kay Hayden; Sharleen (Lloyd) Clemens; Jeanne (Greg) Thomson; George (Sharlene) Ricks; Ben Lowe; Dennis (Cindy) Lowe; Harold (Trudi) Goode; Denise (Kim) Judd; Martha (Kevin) Manning; Danielle Judd; Dan (Amy) Lowe; Robert Goode; Tomas (Jenn) Goode; 61 grandchildren and 73 great grandchildren; her brother Bill (Betty) Thornton, and sister Laverne (Lynn) Pulley. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Stanley J. Goode, her parents, a son Tommy Ricks, a brother Leon Thornton sister Erlin Gappmayer, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Harbor 3rd Ward, 600 South 100 West, Am. Fork. Friends may call on the family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, Am. Fork and at the church Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial in the American Fork Cemetery.
