Ellis Meredith Dawson, age 93, passed away April 21, 2013. Born April 4, 1920, in Henefer, Utah, to Ellen Toone and Meredith Dawson. He graduated from North Summit High School and served with the Army in World War II. He was a general contractor and enjoyed sports (particularly basketball), boating, waterskiing, camping, and reading. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and served his entire life and was a Bishop, among other callings. He served a building mission in San Jose, California. Ellis was a humorous, generous and charming gentleman, loved by his family and friends.
Ellis is survived by wife, Margaret, 2 brothers, Dale and Max, and children, Dennis (Kathy), Adele Ipson (Bevan), Gary (Ann), Mark, Kevin (Kelly), and daughter-in-law Kathy Neugart Dawson, 31 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Murray 24th Ward, 755 E. Three Fountains, Murray. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray and on Thursday from 10:00-10:45 am at the church.
