Evan Ray Terry

Evan Ray Terry, devoted husband and father, was born March 15, 1918 in Bingham Canyon, Utah, and passed away in his Salt Lake City Avenues home of 66 years on Sunday, August 18, 2013. A graduate of BYU in 1940, Evan afterwards received an MBA from Northwestern University. Evan married Joan Eliza Call of Brigham City, Utah in the Salt Lake temple on June 8, 1942. He served his country in the European Theater with Headquarters XVI Corps, United States Army, during World War II, and was awarded the bronze star medal. He continued his military service in the United States Army Reserve, retiring as a Major. In his professional life Evan was the president of the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (1974 - 1975) and a Council Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. A founding partner in the firm of Terry, Price and Wunderli, his career as a CPA spanned nearly seven decades, lasting through June of this year. A man of faith, he was a bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 13 years and a member of the Ensign Stake Presidency. Even with all his service to church, country and profession, Evan never wavered in love, service, support, and concern for his wife, four children, their spouses, and their families.
Evan is survived by his loving wife Joan, children Linda Flanders, Evan Jr. (Beverly), Paul (Gloria), Richard (Karen), 15 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Evan was preceded in death by his parents, his four siblings and their spouses.
Funeral services will be held in the 20th Ward Chapel, 107 North G Street, Salt Lake City, Utah at 12 noon, Friday, August 23. Viewings will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. So. Temple, on Thursday, August 22, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and one hour before the funeral services on Friday. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Primary Children's Medical Center or the LDS Church Humanitarian Fund.
