Gary Brent Reber

Gary Brent Reber
1948 - 2013
Gary Brent Reber returned to his Heavenly Father on April 24, 2013 after a struggle with declining health.
Brent was born in Logan, Utah, on November 9, 1948. He grew up in the beautiful coastal town of Monterey, California and served an LDS mission to Great Britain. Brent married Elizabeth Sue Fielding on July 14, 1972 and they had four children, Jared Reber (Suzanne), Amy Badger (Justin), Nathan Reber (Lessa) and Rachel Mitchell (Quinn). Their family lived in Fort Dix, New Jersey, St. George, Monterey and finally Salt Lake City. Brent and Sue later divorced.
Throughout life Brent felt a deep and abiding love for his country and its flag. He was ever proud of his U.S. Army service during the Vietnam War era. Blessed with a tender and sentimental heart, Brent was instinctively drawn to the underdog in any cause.
Always a study in contrasts, Brent loved firearms, photography, politics, and the beauty of nature. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and launched several small businesses in the Salt Lake area, including a lawn care and window washing service. His children enjoy remembering that Brent had a creative mind, was a superb storyteller, and always fancied himself an inventor.
In later life he married Lynn Nichols, who preceded him in death in 2009. Brent is survived by his four children and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Pam Grange (Lloyd), Janice Edwards (Bob), Mark Reber (Lana), Doug Reber (Nancy), Chris Graham (Blake), and Shawn Reber.
A Memorial reception for family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 6- 7 p.m. with a Memorial service from 7-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy, Utah. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
