John Max Broadhead(1931 - 2014)

John Max Broadhead, 82, died May 3, 2014, at his home in Charleston, Utah. He was born December 27, 1931, in Goshen, Utah, to Charles Darwin and Nellie Steele Broadhead. He married Grace Johnson on April 25, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of two sons, Brent J (Barbara) and John Weston (Holly). They have 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Max graduated from Wasatch High School, where he was an all-state football player. He worked as a miner before becoming a police officer for the Salt Lake City Police Department, serving for 30 years and retiring as a sergeant in 1987. His family has fond memories of camping, hunting, and fishing with him. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fulfilling many callings. He was a faithful home teacher. Max was always willing to serve his friends and neighbors. His greatest joy was his family, and he will be truly missed.
Max is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother Jay (Laurie), sister-in-law Elma Broadhead, and brother-in-law Lowell Brierley. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Loren, two sisters, Ora Simpson and Veda Brierley, and his brother-in-law, LaMar Simpson.
There will be a viewing on May 7, 2014, from 6-8 pm at the Olpin Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 N. Main, Heber, Utah. Funeral will be held May 8, 2014, at 12:00 pm at the Charleston LDS Ward, located at 3423 S. 3500 W., Charleston, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service from 10:30-11:30 am. Interment will follow the funeral at the Charleston cemetery.
