Lynn Taylor Obituary

Feb. 23, 1933 ~ Mar. 10, 2013
Lynn E. Taylor of Salem, Utah passed away March 10, 2013 at the age of 80 after suffering a stroke.
He was born February 23rd 1933 to Elmer Ray Taylor and Elsie Ellen Gardner. He married his sweetheart Geneal Hawkes on August 13, 1952. Geneal passed away July 24th, 2012. Lynn and Geneal had two children, Linda and Jay. Lynn was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He overcame many hardships early in his life and was able to build a successful career and comfortable life for his family through his incredible work ethic and determination to succeed.
Lynn was born in Blackfoot Idaho. He started working full time at night at age 14 and joined the Air Force soon after being married. He went to work at the National Security Agency after his discharge from the Air Force, and spent his entire working career there. Lynn graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Business Administration. Being the consummate overachiever, he earned his degree in just over two years while working full time.
His job afforded him many opportunities to travel, and he spent time in numerous countries around the world. Lynn also had the opportunity to live in many places throughout his life including Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Mississippi, Maryland, Hawaii, and England. Lynn and Geneal loved to travel and were able to visit numerous states and many European countries including Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Holland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Tunisia.
Lynn had many hobbies. He was a huge BYU fan, and loved going to games with his kids and grandkids. He was a skilled wood worker, and could fix or build anything. His children, grandchildren, and friends all enjoyed examples of his willingness to help fix something or build something for them. He loved fishing and camping and he and Geneal went on numerous trips with the trailer and the boat. They both looked forward to spending time each year with his brother Del and his wife Nancy, and Geneal's cousin Jim and his daughter Sherry.
Lynn is survived by his daughter Linda (James), son Jay (Therese), and brother Del (Nancy).
His sister Joyce and brother Jay preceded him in death. He loved his 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren dearly. And of course, Misty.
