Maryann Pedersen Clark
October 3, 1949 ~ September 23, 2012
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, Maryann Pedersen Clark passed away peacefully in her own home, surrounded by her family on September 23, 2012 in West Jordan, Utah after a valiant fight with cancer - 4th stage melanoma. She was born October 3, 1949 to Kristen Lawrence and Mary Withers Pedersen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married her high school sweetheart Gregory Marvin Clark in the Salt Lake Temple on March 22, 1968 and together they shared 44 happy years. They were blessed with 4 wonderful children, 11 grandchildren. She graduated from Kearns High School and was Historian for the pep club where she would talk of fond memories and friends. Maryann was a "stay at home Mom" until her children were older and were in school. She has worked for Senator Jake Garn, Manpower, Granite School District and the LDS church.
Maryann has worked in the church and the community. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong testimony of the Savior. She led in various capacities, from PTA president to leadership positions at the stake and ward level in primary and young women organizations. She dearly loved the children and youth and delighted in teaching young girls skills that they would be able to use throughout their lives. But to her family, the greatest gift was her ability to make those around her feel loved and accepted. She used all her gifts to serve her husband and children, her church family and her community. She had an eye for beauty and always had a flower garden of many bright colors, purple being her favorite that she would maintain every year starting early in the spring. She had a gift of quilting and a goal to make each grandchild a quilt last year. This she worked on very diligently and accomplished last year for Christmas in their favorite color or pattern. Her home was always clean and organized with everything in its place; it was always welcoming and a peaceful place to visit. Her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls were legendary especially at the fire station- everyone wanted her "buns". Now we are proud of you and so impressed with the positive attitude you have always had, never complaining to the very end. We will always have you in our hearts and love you dearly (even if you were a NASCAR junkie #88 to the end).
Maryann is survived by her husband Greg; children, Suzanne Atencio (Mark), West Jordan, UT Kristalyn Thornock (David), Huntersville, NC. John Clark (Janice), Kearns, UT Brittany Tischner (Andrew) Kearns, UT, her parents, sister Kris (Robert) Lemon, brother Kelly (Pam) Pedersen. She was preceded in death by her older sister Karen Withers.

Maryann was a joy to be around as a very young man in the 4th ward. She was the music leader at primary when I was a youngster. She was loved by myself and my friends. We looked forward to seeing her and letting her lead us in song. She always made it a point to fond out what songs we wanted to sing and always made it happen. She was a delight.

I miss you my friend. Been think about so much in the past month.
I miss skipping out on work just to have some fun with you. Tell Heavenly Father that I need some help down here. You just walk right into his office and tell him "It your waywrad daughter" she needs some blessings right now. You can do this with your special connections to the big man himself. Anyways, I miss you!

Maryann was my 3rd grandma.
Everytime I was sad, or hurt, Maryann was always there for me. Gregg is my family's home teacher, and Maryann would always make some sort of treat for Gregg to bring over.
She was truly and amazing woman, and she will be missed by so many!

I've had the sweet experience of knowing Maryann for the last 5 years and my life is richer for it. Im honored to have learned from this sweet lady, some things that make my heart happier. She taught me patience and kindness by always speaking softly and taking the time to listen. Her unconditional love for my children helped me cherish life and family more. Her dedication to everything she did, helped me to have more heart and drive for the things I do. Her sweet smile helps me to remember that a happy heart radiates to the world, and an infinate number of lives can be changed with one glance.
Im honored to have known Maryann, and I pray for peace and comfort for those that loved Maryann so.
Thank You Maryann. We love you.

Maryann lived just one street over from me growing up and was honestly one of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever known. Even during psychotic pep club days, I can't say the I really ever remember her being angry - she had a smile for everyone.
To her family and friends I send my thoughts and prayers; especially to her husband who took such good care of her and to her parents, Lawrence and Mary whom I dearly love. I know she will be deeply missed.

My dear Sister Maryann has been and will always be the perfect example of one who loves unconditionally. I have loved watching and learning from her as she has worked with so many children and youth and will always smile when I hear the rendition of the primary song "leaves are falling all around" as she would throw leaves into the air each time she sang this song with the primary. I love and cherish every single little memory I have of this magnificent daughter of God. Rest in peace until we meet again.
