Storm Michael Mitchell, 53, of Salt Lake City, passed away suddenly Friday, May 9, 2014.
He was born to Larry Mitchell and Geraldine (Gerri) Stinnett Boyce, October 26, 1960, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Storm graduated from Murray High School in 1979. He lived and worked with family in Salt Lake City and St. George.
Storm was a renowned trapshooter on the world stage and passionate about the outdoors and hunting with family. He earned over 200 trapshooting awards before age of 18, competed in the Pan Am Games of 1980, and was a member of the United States Olympic Team.
Storm was a lifetime member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association. He loved to explore the outdoors, guiding hunting and fishing trips from Utah to Great Bear Lake north of the Arctic Circle and he will be missed by every member of his loving family.
Storm is survived by: his parents Larry Mitchell, of Salt Lake; Gerri Stinnett Boyce, of St. George; his stepmother Sheena Mitchell, of Phoenix; his sister Lana Hicks, of Kansas City; his brothers Ronald Mitchell, of Salt Lake; Todd Mitchell, of St. George; Justin Boyce, of St. George; Carson Mitchell, of Salt Lake; and Jordan Mitchell, of Reno.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in his name.
A viewing will be held at 9:00-10:30 a.m. Saturday May 17, 2014 and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, UT.
