William Franklin Eckles

1923 ~ 2006
William Franklin Eckles passed away peacefully Jan. 11, 2006. Dad was born to Lyman Robert and Gladys Bertha Walker Eckles June 15, 1923, Brandon, CO. Married Lillian Virginia Ofgreen Jan. 15, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Dad worked for Mt. Fuel (Questar Gas) for 37 years. Dad loved hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. Dad loved his family. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II from 1943 to 1945 with and Honorable Discharge. He was a former 2nd Vice President of the Utah Fish and Game Assoc.
Survived by his wife Lillian, son Steven (Liz) Eckles, MacKay, ID and daughters Nancy (Lynn) Thomas, Ogden; Elaine (Rourke) McDermott, S. Jordan; Peggy (Monte) West, Blackfoot, ID; Janet (Glen) Worthington, Salt Lake City; Karen (Lloyd) Bethers, Sandy; 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James Robert "Bud", Calvin, Warren and Victor.
Funeral services will be held Saturday Jan. 14th at 12 noon in the LDS Chapel, 1111 Charlton Ave. (2800 S.). Friends and family are invited to offer their condolences two hour before services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens. Condolences at www.larkinmortuary.com.
