She grew up in Leota, Utah in the Ouray Valley. When she was 10 years old, she and her seven siblings were sealed to their parents in the Manti LDS Temple. Her first eight years of education were in a one room schoolhouse. Despite several setbacks with illness her junior year, she persevered and graduated from Alterra High School near Roosevelt, Utah. On March 20, 1940, Vera married Heber Kenneth Harrison in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated their 60th anniversary a few months before he passed away, almost 10 years ago to the day of Vera's death. With their home being on US 40 next to the Naples Ward Chapel, their bountiful gardens were often the subject of conversation. Vera canned lots of food from those gardens over the years. She also loved growing flowers. Active in the LDS Church, Vera held many positions. She was a visiting teacher, Primary teacher, Young Women's Ward and Stake Secretary, Relief Society Inservice Leader, and a ward librarian (which she did for 20 years). Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, genealogy, crocheting, writing poetry and sewing. Her family and their needs always came first. She worked hard and sacrificed much so her children could get a good education and her sons could serve church missions. Vera is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Ray) Jones of Phoenix, Arizona and Verda (Randy) Wilkinson of Bella Vista, Arkansas; son, Val Heber (Catherine) Harrison, Bountiful, Utah; daughter-in-law, Lynda Harrison of Centerville, Utah; 23 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
