Doris Rhoades Obituary

Doris Rae Lefler Rhoades "Together Again"  Doris Rhoades passed away July 14, 2004, at her home in Syracuse, Utah, at the age of 75. She was born November 4, 1928 in Heber City, Utah to Zenas Ray Lefler and Dorothy Petersen Lefler. She married Donald LaVar Rhoades on December 3, 1945 in Heber City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized October 19, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Doris was educated in Heber City and graduated from Wasatch High School. She attended Hollywood Beauty College and had a beauty shop in her home for many years. She was active in the LDS church and held many positions. She served an LDS mission with her husband Don in Rapid City, South Dakota on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. While serving she received her Indian name "Wacintanka Win" (patient woman). She loved line dancing and taught it to many friends. Doris was a member of the Lady Lions and a volunteer at Davis Hospital. She was a tour director for Leisure and Open Road Tours for 15 years. She is survived by two sons and three daughters, Donald Ray (Sherrie) Rhoades, Syracuse; Edward L. (Kathy) Rhoades, Heber City; Karla (Jack) Fleck, Clearfield; Jan (Garrett) Ostler, Syracuse; Joyce (Larry) Mower, Syracuse. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grand-children; Jack M. Lefler (brother) Orangeville, Bill M. Lefler (brother) Midway, Betty (Ted) Bergener (sister) Mt. Green. Preceded in death by her husband and parents, sisters Lucy Lefler Brandt and Dorothy Lefler. The family wishes to thank Dr. Layne Barker and Vista Care Hospice employees for their services. Services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church, located at 1313 S. 2500 W. in Syracuse. Friends and family may call at the church Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery in Heber City, Utah at 3:00 p.m.

I got to know Doris thru her brother Jack, I always enjoyed talking with Doris, which was often in the early mornings. Doris was such a special and caring person, I know she will be miss greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with you, her family, until you meet again.
