I often think of the funny elementary teacher who taught us "chlorophyll is the green stuff in plants, not pants!" Sorry to learn of his passing. Sending love and condolences from a former student.

Mr. Jensen was a sweet natured, funny boned, talented and kind teacher. Now in my late 20s, affiliated with many theatres, represented by agents and the AEA, I reflect on the beginnings; Pretty much starting with Mr. Jensen, a hilarious parody of Master Of The House, and a bit of razzle dazzle.

Uncle Ray, i love him dearly. i have done many performances at draper theatre and looooooved Ray with all my heart. He was always a great listener and taking good care of me. One day i felt like we were so close he might as well be my uncle...he has been known as uncle ray to my family ever since. I am so blessed to have been influenced by him. May you feel Heavenly Fathers love, especially at this time.

Mr. Jensen was one of my all-time favorite teachers. He cast me as the White Rabbit in our 6th grade play "Alice in Wonderland" and even let me direct a scene. He had a way of making all of us kids laugh, and made learning fun. That was 12 years ago, but I will never forget the impact this great man had on my life.

I had Mr. Jensen as my teacher in 6th grade, many, many years ago and loved every minute of it. His smile made everyone smile. Thanks for all you did Mr. Jensen. My thoughts and prayers are with the Jensen family.

Ray taught me not only what it meant to truly love theater, but to love your fellow man as well. We'll all miss seeing his warm smile at DHT. Till we meet again, Ray.

I had Mr. Jensen as a teacher when I was in 6th grade 10 years ago...and now, as a Sophomore in College, i can safely say that I have never had a year as fun as my 6th grade year in my entire school career. Mr. Jensen made learning fun -- and i STILL remember random facts from his science lessons and random words in sign language (particularly how to order at McDonalds in sign language). The plays and softball tournaments only added to the joys of 6th grade. I was shocked and saddened by the news...but i know he is in a better place.

Thanks for the memories. you will be missed

Grant,
Your wonderful sense of humor will be missed. You added so much to the teaching profession with your ability to bring the arts into the lives of children. Thank you for the wonderful memories of the 6th grade plays (even when I was running around fixing make-up). You will be remembered and greatly missed.

Hey Buddy, I know Your All About taking things to the next level but dont ya think think this is a little extreme =) Heaven is most definitely a funner place now that you have joined it, but that doesn't do us any favors down here. My dearest friend. You were pretty much a part of our family. 17yrs ago you were my 6th grade teacher, and one of the best teachers i have ever known, met, or even heard of. 6th grade curriculum and introduction of the arts might have been your profession, but your teaching skills went much deeper than that. you changed lives dramatically for the better... I am proof of it. You are going to be missed greatly by many. Seeing as you have retired many times (or at least tried too) and just keep coming back, i think i have a pretty good idea of what your doin up there. The kids you are with now are so very lucky to have you =)
TO GRANT RAY JENSEN, My Mentor, My Teacher, And My Friend. You Will Never Be Forgotten.

Mr. Jensen was an amazing teacher because he made it fun to come to school. Because of him I developed a love for theatre and I've been doing it ever since. I'll never forget the influence he's had on me for that reason. My best wishes go to his family and friends. Thanks, Mr. Jensen - you're loved by everyone!

June 16, 2010

I only knew him for a few years when I was introduced to DHT in 2008. Although I didn't know him very well, the times we talked and when I saw him interacting with people, I was very impressed. He had a glow about him and was a good genuine down to earth person. He never bragged or boasted of his talent or resume. He's awesome and I can't wait to see him again. No doubt he'll be doing great things on the other side.

I remember begging my mom to let me change tracks so that I could have Mr. Jensen as my 6th grade teacher. He always rememebered your name and I'll never forget him coming to get me and asking me to be in the 6th grade play as one of the ugly step-sisters in Cinderella. I will miss seeing him at the Draper Theatre but will never forget his sense of humor and his love for performing. What an amazing and inspiring man. We'll miss you!

Mr. Jensen was my favorite teacher at Crescent. His love of theater was contagious, It sparked my own passion for it! I remember when he was adamant that we all learned to play hockey-I can't imagine how silly a bunch of 6th graders looked! I was always so excited to go to his class for science and other projects-he loved his students and I know we all felt it! You will be missed Mr. Jensen!

I have countless memories of being in Mr. Jensen's sixth grade class. All the plays, the sharing of love for hockey, but most of all his big smile and laugh. He always encouraged me to try new things and gave me the confidence to realize that I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. You could tell he loved what he was doing. Mr. Jensen has been one of my favorite teachers of all-time. He will be greatly missed.
