Roger Lambson Obituary

1962 ~ 2018
It is with deep sadness that the family of Roger Gene Lambson, announce his unexpected passing on Oct 24, 2018 due to natural causes in his home in Fredonia, AZ at the age of 56.
Roger was born June 12, 1962 in Tacoma, WA to Jack and Jean Lambson. He attended Mount Vernon Academy, in Murray, Utah, class of 1980. He served an LDS mission in Auckland, NZ and earned his AAS at the College of Eastern Utah 1981-1983.
With awe-inspiring natural musical talent from an early age, Roger became a highly accomplished composer and jazz musician mastering saxophone, clarinet and piano. He studied music performance while at CEU and upon graduation received an award for outstanding achievement. Moving to Los Angeles, he performed in jazz clubs with many greats earning the nickname 'the kid' and privately studied composition under renowned composer, Albert Harris. Over the next decades he had an illustrious music career performing in jazz clubs several nights a week with his own band, composing and arranging orchestration for film and tv, working with various artists as a producer and recording engineer at his own studio, and releasing several jazz albums of his original works. A genuine music lover of many genres, he loved collaborating and sharing his passion for music with others including teaching music theory at Mount Vernon Academy inspiring many students over the years. A few notable influences include Jerry Goldsmith, Chuck Mangione, Billy Holiday, Steve Miller and Tito Puente.
Roger was an exceptional athlete in high school excelling in many sports including baseball and basketball. He especially enjoyed baseball, where he played collegiately at CEU. He continued a love for sports throughout his life, a passion he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. He loved inspiring movies and documentaries, which led him to pursue his own successful projects as a filmmaker. He had a deep love for animals, especially his cats and horses. Riding his horse through the spectacular red rock canyons of Southern Utah brought him immense joy and serenity. His warmth, gentle nature and witty sense of humor made him many close friends wherever he went and was affectionately known as 'spur' in the recent communities he called home. He was a loving, deep, compassionate soul and will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to know him.
Roger is survived by his father Jack Lambson, siblings Jeff Lambson (Paula), Kelly Hill, Mike Lambson (Britney), Marty Lambson, Stacey Richards (Paul), Wesley Lambson (Priscilla), Scott Lambson (Ashley) and is preceded in death by his mother Jean Lambson.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held Saturday November 10, 2018 at 6pm. There will be a reception at 6pm followed by a tribute at 7pm at the former Mount Vernon Academy building located at 184 East Vine St., Murray, Utah. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah in Roger's name where he volunteered.
