Lyle S. Ford 10/22/1928 ~ 6/10/2011 Lyle S. Ford, wonderful husband and father, business man and friend, passed away June 10, 2011 at his home in Salt Lake City. He attended grade school in Wallsburg, Wasatch High School in Heber City and graduated from Utah State University majoring in Chemistry and Microbiology. He was drafted into the Army in 1951 serving in the Korean conflict. After being released in 1953, he met and married JoAnne Chidester. Lyle received many awards for his work and was one of the first presidents of the newly formed Water Pollution Control Association. Lyle was very innovative in developing new ways to solve client problems. He enjoyed what he did and made many friends in the business. Lyle was the best father to his two daughters, Lorilee Ririe (Kent) and Tracy Barnett (Chris) and included his sons-in-law in his love. He loved being a grandfather to Shauna Phillips (Roger), Diana Hobbs (Jason), Jared Ririe and Samuel Barnett. Two great grandchildren, Corby Phillips and Blake Hobbs blessed his later life. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held positions in the Elders Quorum, High Priests, Sunday School, Bishopric and Stake under two Stake Presidents. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mae Slack Ford and his brother, Lloyd A Ford. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne, his daughters, four grandchildren and the two great-grandsons and his brother, Elden (Lorna)Ford, and Anna Lee Ford, Lloyd's wife. Lyle was a great friend and associate to those of us in the Water Quality profession. His friendship and knowledge will be missed as well as his presence at our annual conference in St. George. God bless to all his family.

I remember with fondness working with Lyle so many years ago. He always showed a great deal of kindness and patience with all of his staff. He was more like a friend than a boss. I also was fortunate to see him as a wonderful father and brother as I worked alongside of Tracy, Chris and Elden. I extend my sympathies to the entire family at this time. And express my appreciation for having had the opportunity to know Lyle and others in the Ford family. God bless you.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to have known Lyle Ford. Working (and learning) at the lab with him as my tutor has clearly defined my professional life. I could never leave the job because he made it flexible to accomplish other goals in my life. He is a great man and I appreciate the time I have known the entire Ford family. JoAnne, Lori, Tracy, Elden and families - I extend my deepest sympathy in our loss.
