LANCE HYATT Obituary

Lance L. Hyatt 06/02/27 ~ 02/26/11 "Together Again" GUNNISON - Lance L. Hyatt, 83, passed away early Saturday morning, February 26, 2011 at his daughter's home in Bountiful, Utah. His loving family surrounded him during the time of passing. Lance was born in Gunnison, Utah to Lance N. and Annie Adella Decker Hyatt. He was the seventh of nine children. He served in the Navy during World War II. After returning home, he met his sweetheart Luraine Hatch. They were married on October 30, 1948, and later solemnized their marriage in the Manti LDS Temple. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary before Luraine passed away in November of 2004. Lance worked for several trucking companies during his career and by 1954 he was able to start his own business. He owned and operated Hyatt Trucking. He hauled livestock throughout the western states for many years. He built all of his own trailers as well as many trailers for other truckers. He maintained all of his own equipment. As his company grew, he was able to provide employment to many drivers who over the years have become life long friends. Lance and Luraine had many friends known as "The Gang". The couples spent many years enjoying each other's company and snow-birding in southern Arizona. Lance was a member of the LDS Church. He is survived by his daughters, Norma Dean Hansen and Teresa Aller (Matt); eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rulon and Gene; and sister Opal Nielsen. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, LaVel, Morlan, Elmo, Dearrel, and Elvona. After six long years he has finally been reunited with his sweetheart. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at LDS Hospital east eight department, for their kindness and loving care. We would also like to thank Dr. Scott Samuelsen, Dr. Ann Jefferds, Dr. Jan Christensen, the IHC Home Health Care in Gunnison, and the Vista Care Hospice Staff. Norma, Teresa, Matt, all of you,
You are all so heavily in our thoughts and prayers, we are all going to miss him so very much. If there is anything we can do let us know. Daddy's Hands has been playing in my head all week. We would love to see you any time. Just thinking of your "Mom" can give me a good laugh, they are together again and watching over all of us.
All our Love, Sandy, John, JoAnn, Tom and all the young ones.

I am thinking of you at this difficult time. We know this is hard to go through. There are go many hard things to take care of.

I have many fond memories of being in your home when we were in high school. Your parents always made your home welcome to all of us.

Hey Hyatt girls,
I am sure glad that I got to be around you and your folks when we were growing up. I never remember a time that I was around your mom and dad that they didn't have me laughing. Fun times.

I wish I could come up and give you my condolences in person, but I can't Saturday. Anyway, I'm thinking about you and hope that you have a feeling of love and peace remaining.

Dear Norma and Teresa,

I have so many wonderful memories of your mom and dad and all the fun times that our families had together growing up. I can still see them smiling at each other, as I am sure they are doing again now. Your dad was a wonderful man and he will be missed by so many of us that knew and loved him.

You are in my thoughts and prayers and I wish you and yours peace and comfort at this time.

Sincerely,
Dorothy Chappell James

Norma and Teresa and families,
We are all so sorry to learn of your father Lance passing away. We all grew up together in Gunnison Valley and now unfortunately it looks like we are all losing our parents in such a short period of time. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time and we hope that you find comfort knowing that your Mom and Dad are back together again.
