Molly Peterson Obituary

Molly Peterson
Draper, Utah
Molly Elizabeth Peterson, 35, passed away at her home on May 27, 2016 in Draper, Utah. Molly was born on December 8, 1980 in Auburn, California to loving parents Stephen Bruce and Rebecca Winkel Peterson.
Molly's younger years were spent in St. George, Utah with the last 20 years being spent in Utah County. She worked as an admissions counselor at the Cirque Lodge, as a showroom consultant at Roth Distributing, an executive assistant at Xango, and most recently as a baker at Thanksgiving Point. She also had a degree as an esthetician. Molly always excelled at whatever she put her mind to.
Molly's death came after a long and courageous struggle with emotional challenges and mental disease. She endured many trials in her life and was yet able to experience long periods of accomplishment and joy. Most people who knew Molly knew the true Molly. She hid the inner chaos and struggle that medicine and counselors could not seem to quiet or adequately soothe. In the end, despite her courage and longsuffering, her disease took her life.
Molly had incredible talents. She was an accomplished student, athlete, and seamstress. She graduated high school early and participated in the Junior Olympics and Hershey Track Meets as a sprinter. She kept alive the lost art of baking, which she learned from her Grandma & Grandpa Winkel. Countless family, friends, and strangers have been blessed by her quilts, baked treats, and many acts of service she would perform using the gifts she was given and developed. Molly would give anything she had to those in need.
Molly loved family more than anything, and her favorite title was that of "Aunt". She loved each of her 19 nieces and nephews more than anything. Her favorite times were always those when she felt part of her eternal family. She blessed all of us with her example and courageous attitude.
Molly is survived by her parents, Steve & Becky Peterson. She is also survived by siblings: Chris (Jennifer) Peterson, Ben (Sona) Peterson , Melissa (Aaron) Bolli, Jon (Janae) Peterson. She also has 19 nieces and nephews.
Molly was preceded in death by her grandparents: Robert and Shirley Peterson, and Francis & Rose Winkel. They were a big influence in Molly's life.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland 27th Ward Chapel, 6511 W. 11800 N. in Highland, where friends may call 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Graveside service and dedicatory prayer will be held at the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George on Wednesday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. It seems that genuinely nice and caring people are getting more and more difficult to find these days. Molly was one of these people. She had a very sweet and beautiful personality. She was an asset and a support to everyone she met. She could make anyone feel comfortable and calm by showing her welcoming smile and compassionate heart. She had her struggles but you would never know by looking at her that she was ever in any pain. The world has lost another incredible soul. Rest in peace, Molly. You've earned it.

Dear Becky and Steve,
We are so sorry for your loss, Molly was a delight to know and we will always feel special to call her a friend. Her acts of kindness are too many to recount, she came down and visited my wife when she was new to the country and made her feel special and loved. I loved having her on my team at Cirque, she made all our clients laugh and reassured them everything would be okay.
Her baking was legendary, we will miss her infectious laugh and smile! If there is any consolation, it feels like she has finally found peace.
Much love,
Tommy and Jefanie O'Dailey

Oh Molly doll..
The void of our daily banter is greater than you know. I will miss our "Lionel Richie" sing alongs, and our "diet cokes".!
Your amazing smile, and infectious laugh still rings in my ears.
I pray you and my brothers can find some good laughs, as we did much of that here...
God be with you Til we meet again my beautiful friend... You will be missed doll
Thank you for your friendship, the soup you brought several times when I was sick, and the cookies we all mention!
You are one of a kind, with a spirit that shines.
I love you Moll...

Becky and Steve:
What a sweet amazing daughter you had in Molly. She was a joy to us both and we felt a very deep love for her. We have kept her in our personal nightly prayers for many years now, asking the Lord to be with her and comfort her. Very few of God's children have had to face the serious challenges and burdens she faced in this life. Yet, every time we were with her, she was full of smiles and giggles. Never dwelling on her sufferings and challenges. Oh, how we enjoyed her visits and her cookies!! Everything we did for her, she would do ten times more for us. We saw inside her soul, the true spirit of this precious daughter of God. We are sure, that our Savior welcomed her into His merciful, loving arms as she slipped from this life. Gratefully, He has the power to take from her all her sorrows, suffering and broken soul.

We look forward to seeing her in Heaven and will rejoice in our friendship there.

With love and condolences,

Dear Peterson Family,
I am heartbroken to hear of Molly's passing. I worked with her at Roth Distributing and she was the sweetest most talented young lady I have ever met.
She was always so proud to talk about her family especially her nieces and nephews.
She has left a huge void in everyone's heart that knew her. May you find comfort in knowing how many lives she touched in such a positive way. She will be missed.
Sincerely,
Peggy Knodel

Dear Becky and Steve,

Bonnie and I were so saddened to read of the loss of your beautiful Molly. Having three amazing daughters ourselves, the oldest of whom is that same age (Missy), we felt especially touched.

Elder M. Russell Ballard reminded us at a recent funeral I attended that we should always refer those who have passed as "is," not as "was," because they indeed to still live.

And although it may not make the separation any easier, it is comforting to know that Molly does live on, and is healed and happy, and is likely baking up something tasty with your mom and dad.

With our deepest love,
Randy and Bonnie Hunt

Dear Petersons,

Although Molly was younger than I, and I didn't know Molly all that well, your family has always held a special place in my heart and mind. The times all the "boys" used your place in Bloomington as the hang out, your sweet and genuine spirits always shone through. I am so sorry for your loss, I cannot begin to imagine how you must feel. Know that you are in our prayers. Ben, I know it's been a while, but know that Emily and I have you and your family in our hearts and prayers as well.

Sincerely,

Traver Maxwell

I didn't know Molly but stumbled upon this beautiful tribute to her life. I am so grateful for your courage in telling of Molly's disease. I have struggled for many years and know of the reality of mental illness. I'm sure your heart is aching but please find peace in the knowledge that Molly must be proud of you for your honesty. I'm sure you have helped more than just me today. God bless.

Dear Becky and Steve. I was so sorry to read about Molly today. Nothing any one can say would ever be able to take away the sorrow and loss you must feel at this time. She is a beautiful daughter and from what I read she had a good heart full of love and will be missed by so many. The gospel of Jesus Christ lets us know we will be reunited with our families. "Families are forever". May the Lord comfort. you and bring you peace. And now Molly is at peace as well. Sending love your way and a prayer for comfort. Sincerely, Michele Steadman

Dear Steve, Becky & the extended Peterson family: Jackie & I were deeply saddened to learn of Molly's recent passing. She was such a joy to know in her youth as our neighbor in SG, a friend to our kids, & a classmate of our son Cody. Her infectious smile was near-legendary in youth track & field circles in SW Utah, where she excelled as a sprinter. That same smile pervaded virtually everything she did while she lived near us. Molly was a strong young woman who we understand faced the challenges of life with great intent. She'll be missed by so many. We hope that Steve, Becky & her siblings will take solace & comfort in the fond memories Molly created for all of us. The void left by her passing won't be easy to fill-may the Lord bless you all at this difficult time.

The first true friend I gained when I moved to St George, we lived across the street and from the first day to the last, Molly's soul and mine had a connection. Many times we found comfort is being each others confidant, with some of life's toughest struggles overwhelming us. Molly had a sensitive, thoughtful and caring side that was often overshadowed by her sheer toughness; a stronger person I have never known. One of a small group of true friends, I will miss here so much. I pray she feels the peace for eternity that she longed for here on earth. Love you Molly!

Molly will be missed by many. She had the incredible gift of making everyone she met feel special. We traveled together to Alabama to go to a funeral of a mutual friend. She has such a gentle spirit, she was a calming force for me and for the friend's family. One of my favorite memories is when she dressed up like Snow White for Halloween. We had so much fun together! I will miss her smile, her laugh, and her friendship. Til we meet again, friend.

There couldn't be two better people and parents than Steve and Becky!! Molly was beautiful both inside and out! I will be praying for you to find peace and hope at this tragic time. Please know that you are loved dearly!!

Dear Steve and Becky, I am not quite sure what to say at a time like this except to tell you how fond I was of Molly and what a special place she has in my heart. She was incredibly sweet, incredibly talented and incredibly kind. She had an amazing ability to make everything taste delicious or look great! Mostly however she was great at making you feel better about yourself. I saw her do it with countless residents at the Lodge and all of her co-workers. Including me.

I will miss her great smile and that infectious laugh. I can see it and hear it as I write this note. Please know she will always be a part of us at the Lodge and that she will stay in my thoughts and prayers. Always!

Lots of love,

Gary

Dear Steve and Becky,

Not sure really what to say in a time like this except to tell you how fond I was of Molly and what a special place she always had in my heart. She was incredibly talented, incredibly sweet and incredibly kind. She could do most anything when it came to making something look more beautiful or taste great. And most importantly she could make you feel better about yourself. I saw her do it with countless residents and all of her co-workers.

I will miss her smile and her laugh! I can see it and hear it as I write this note. She will always be special to me and I know to the staff at the Lodge.

Lots of love!

Sweet, sweet, Molly. I will remember you for the love you gave others through kindness and also through art: perfect cookies and beautiful quilts. You could name each of Grandpa and Grandma Winkel's great-grandchildren. You bore strife with unusual grace and remarkable beauty. May you be at peace wherever you are. May your current realm be filled with the same loveliness you bestowed upon others since you were a child. We saw each other infrequently but we share the same blood and I love you even now that you've passed on. May you be in the arms of other loving family members that we share.
