I just found out about Jeff's passing today, and am in shock and so sad. I walked past his house today and saw several people working on emptying his house. I had noticed the For Sale sign a couple weeks ago but didn't think much of it. So I checked the obits and I was out of town when it happened. I will always remember him as a very kind soul who helped me out more than once. He was my friend and I will miss him.

Jeff took me flying over 17 yrs. ago. It was amazing. My wife and I were new to the SLC area. Both he and Sue shared their time and family with us. Thank you both. RIP!

I alwqys enjoyed going to lumch with Jeff. He introduced me to many fine restaurants in downtown Salt Lake, where we always had intersting conversations about all manner of subjects. He was a joy to work with ... a true rennaisance man.

I was sad to hear about Jeff's passing. Jeff was someone I always loved to see and visit with. He had a sparkle in his eye, an incredibly dry wit, and a refreshing honesty. He always brought a smile to my face. Happy trails, Jeff! My thoughts are with the Knell family.

Jeff was a great guy who I had the pleasure of getting to know and work with on a project. He was funny, sincere and dedicated to his job, nature and children. I will never forget his voice and hesitation when he answered the phone. He will greatly be missed.

Since the 7th grade we laughed and got through school together. We saw each other in the most random locations later in life after the U... I am sorry to see you go but I will remember you for your Intelligence and Kindness. Continue flying high.

Jeff has been a good friend and my virtual office mate for the past 8 years. His natural spirit and honest character will forever be remembered. I have always admired Jeff's laid back nature, his enjoyment of life, and his easiness in admitting mistakes and giving credit to others. I'll miss hearing about his adventures and certainly about his children of whom he was so proud. My thoughts and prayers are with the Knell family and all whose lives have been touched, and hearts feel empty from the loss of our friend.

I wish I could say that I knew Jeff well, but I didn't. However, I knew him from a very early age--first or second grade. Back then the teachers seated students in alphabetical order by last name, so Jeff sat directly in front of me for many years. We were known then as Jeff K. and Jeff L.

We will miss you Jeff.

Sorry to hear about Jeff's passing, but as no one gets out alive we are left with the manner that we exit and in this case doing what he loved I would say Jeff left us in style. Godspeed and wishes for comfort to those left behind.

Jeff Knell was a good friend. We went to the same meetings and campouts when we were scouts. We lost contact when high school ended, but we reconnected when I worked at Snowbird ski resort and would see him when he was skiing. I have wonderful memories of being with Jeff. When we were in junior high school at Churchill, he was in a band and played the guitar. Even at that young age he was very talented and loved what he did. I will miss you, Jeff.

Met Jeff while working at TheraDoc. He was a very well natured man his heart was open to all. I'll never forget you teaching me about gliding and how to read the skycharts and understanding the thermal pockets. Your time was to short Jeff. The world lost a good one it's too bad more people can't be like you. Condolensces to your family.. God speed.

Jeff and I were good friends with the passion for flight. I enjoyed years and many great days flying at cloud base with Jeff, never knowing where the thermals might take us or how far we might go. Jeff will be missed and has left a empty hole in the hearts of all at the Cedar Valley airport where he was loved and spent so much of his time during the flying season. I will cherish the many nights after flying, having a refreshment and talking about the days adventures. You've earned your wings Jeff… God Speed my friend.

Lost track of Jeff after SHS. Whenever I heard a good bass guitar, I would think of Jeff.

It's appropriate that they call us a student body. We are one body....our little class of 1971. When something happens to one of us....we all feel it. The Knell's lived next door to us growing up on Mars Way. Jeff was always quiet and skinny and had thick glasses. I remember seeing him at the ten year reunion and that skinny kid grew up, got contacts and was gorgeous! When I think of him, I'm back to being young... playing outside in the street until it got late, sleigh riding down the sides of our houses, riding bikes. When our parents bought those houses on Mars Way in 1954 there weren't any houses built any higher up Mt. Olympus. We were only a few blocks from Wasatch Blvd.... now that's the very bottom of the hill. We are all connected and a part of us goes with Jeff.

Just as Jon said no one gets out alive. How sad to lose such a great guy. I have great memories or Jeff & we shared the fact of our dads both being in the dental profession. Gone too soon!!!!!! Prayers & comfort for all!

Went to school either Jeff since third grade. He was a good friend and neighbor as well. Lost track after high school, but it sounds like he packed a lot of living into his 60 years! Condolences to his family and friends!

It is so true that we have a good connection, our class of '71...losing a guy like Jeff leaves a hole. I would see Jeff while hiking up Neff's these past few years and he would be sliding down on a nifty sled. He was a beautiful man. Sounds like he was up to lots of fun and adventure...may it continue!

I would cross paths with Jeff, periodically. We were always happy to see one another, with memories of another time. i am certain that happy memories of his time with us will supersede the sorrow of the loss. We extend deepest condolences to his family.
As Jon said, in a metaphor, the countdown began a while back and our memories play an increasing role in the composition of who we are in the years to come.

Jeff was a close friend and my "lunch-buddy" for 15 years. He was a great guy with a unique character. I learned a lot from him, about weather, music, politics, aviation, etc. But more importantly, looking back, I think he was one of the most considerate and good-hearted people I've ever known and that's something we can all appreciate and learn from. My condolences, thoughts and prayers to the Knell family. Thanks Jeff, for many, many good times and good laughs.

Jeff and I had working together at U. of Utah and later at TheraDoc for 15 years. Jeff was great friend and co-worker. He loved nature and was curious around everything happening around the world. He had a big heart. Every time, we passed a homeless person, Jeff always gave them a dollar or two. He loved his two children, Steve and Georgia. He talked about them all the time during our lunches and he was very proud of them. Jeff had great appreciation of food. Our lunches will be totally different without Jeff there to provide guidance on where to go and what to order. Jeff provided a great customer services to our customers. I am sure that he will be missed by them as well by our co-workers. Jeff, we love you and we will sure miss you greatly. I am still denying that this is all true that you are no longer with us in this world.

He was a Fun Guy, when I think of Jeff and think of him as a big fan in the stands at the U. I think of the determination of completing things that were important to him. Most of all his big smile that made you smile. He will be missed, love you Jeff. Karen Mannion
