I think about you often Paul. I drive by your house on my way home from the SLCC campus. You were one of my very best painting students. You have given us all so much beauty and wonder with all your wonderful works of art. Keep on creating beautiful things my friend. We love having your painting of Hagia Sophia proudly displayed next to the drawing/painting studio classroom on the South Campus of Salt Lake Community College.

I think about Paul often. I frequently look at his painting, Hagia Sophia, which is on permanent display at the Salt Lake Community College near the classroom where he spent much time learning and painting.
"Dear Paul, I hope you are able to continue painting those amazing beautiful scenes from on high! Your teacher and friend, Rob Adamson."

I'm so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. He is one of the kindest, most humble, knowledgeable and talented of men. I have many good memories of times with him, Lavina and Christian over our years together in Whittier Ward. I learned so much from him. He and Lavina were always so caring to my parents, who loved them. I am sad to know Paul is no longer with us on the earth, but happy to also know of the wonderful reunion you will have with him one day. May the Lotd bless and comfort you.

I always talked with Paul at the MOA and he was someone who loved his work and was ready to share something he was excited about. A lovely human .

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Paul's passing. Paul was such a kind and generous person to me. Always encouraging and interested in what I was doing. He was truly one of the finest men I've ever known. He was knowledgeable in history, architecture, the fine arts, music, and the world around him. God bless Paul Anderson!
My sincerest condolences to Lavina, Christian and his wife, Marina. My thoughts and prayers go out to them and the Anderson family.

Paul was learned, gifted in the arts and architecture (we disagreed about modern architecture), a loving father and husband, certainly, but above all he was kind to all.

Paul Anderson's funeral was one of the most powerful I've ever been to. His son Christian gave an incredible eulogy. It was poetry. A profound testament itself to the home Paul and Lavina built. The common theme was Paul's love for nature and his love for his fellow man. His legacy is one of profound kindness. It was a service that you walked away from determined to be a better person.
Tonight I brought out the program and talked with the kids about Paul. We had visited he and Lavina in their home last year. Daughter J and son J remembered him and were sad. Son H professed he did not remember. On the back of the program is a website: http://paullandersonpaintings.com/ where images of several of Paul's painting are displayed. I told H that Paul was an accomplished artist and architect. As we opened the paintings page H let out a gasp. "Wow, I don't even know what to say, this is so beautiful." He said. I shared with them some of the anecdotes shared during the funeral. H said, "Dad, there is so much we can learn about Paul Anderson."
Yes, my boy, there is.
It was bed time. H asked, "Dad, can we see more of Paul's paintings tomorrow?"
We will.
Godspeed, Paul.

It is so hard to believe that someone as bright and vibrant as Paul has passed from this life. He was always such a kind and friendly face at Mormon History Association conferences. I'll never forget the fascinating tour of historic Utah church buildings he led one year. Paul was a renaissance man--so knowledgeable, witty and intelligent. I deeply admired him and will miss him. My deepest condolences go out to you, my friend Lavina, and to Christian and Marina.

An amazing friend and mentor. He first hired me for an internship at the Museum of Art in the early 90s. I am going to really miss him and his wonderful sketches from his travels.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Paul. He was truly one of my star painting students. He created some beautiful artwork! He was such a kind friend to all. Shortly before Paul's passing, a few of his paintings were juried into our Salt Lake Community College Annual Art Show. I would love to include these paintings in our upcoming show. If someone from the family could contact me my hope is that we could include his artwork in the show. Email: [email protected]. Call or text: (385) 218-8016
May the Lord's Love, Peace, and Blessings be to you Lavina and to your family.
Sincerely,
Rob Adamson
