Went to my first Ruff Conference in 1987, which has influenced my investing since then. Howard was one of the greatest men I've ever met. He was a blessing to the planet and will be missed.

"How To Prosper During The Coming Bad Years," was virtually the beginning of my education in "common sense" economics. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to personally tell Howard that it was his guidance, through his book and subsequent newsletters that guided my mom's financial future after my dad's death in 1979. She was far more comfortable financially than she would have been otherwise.
Any words about Howard cannot omit Kay. She has been the family's rock - and the dignity she brought to every setting was impressive. While Howard will be missed, Kay's contribution to his success can also never be forgotten.

Dear Kay,
I, too, became acquainted with Howard through his books and newsletters and was happy to have you move just across the street from me in the Willow Park Villas.
But it didn't take me long to learn that YOU are the one everyone should know! I admire and respect you a lot and marvel that you have had so many of life's experiences without being bitter or arrogant, but always kind and unassuming.
Hoping our paths cross again; it was delightful to have you as my neighbor.

I send my condolences to the Ruff family. I began reading the Ruff Times in the late 1970's and was a subscriber for many years. Both Mr. Ruff's clear, interesting, and insightful articles and books and the references to which he directed subscribers gave me an outstanding education in free-market economics. It has been of lasting benefit to me.

My condonences to Kay and your family. I knew Howard at the Y. He was very popular because of his beautiful voice. He drove my friends and I to San Francisco after we graduated and we were in the same ward. He directed and sang in HMS Pinefore and I was Buttercup. I was able to teach Kay in my Laurel Class, and I was excited to hear of yourI5UAC marriage. The funeral today was beautiful. I send my love. Joana Hobbs Major

To The Ruff Family:
I just found out that Mr. Howard Ruff of the Ruff Times Newsletter had passed away 11/12/2016. I went to Goggle to see what became of mr. Ruff since he stopped publishing the Ruff Times. I was sorry to earn he just passed 3 days ago today. I see he was born on 12/27/1930. My Mother was born on 12/23/1930. she two days before Christmas and he 2 days after. I enjoyed reading The Ruff times and miss it and wondered if he was still living since he retired from that. I learned a lot from is newsletter and his books I read that he wrote. When he told about his family he seemed to be a man like my own Father, Kirby T. Smith,Jr. 9/20/1926 to 12/ 19/ 2010. I'm now 64 as of 9/12/2016, and though of Mr. Ruff as I did my own Dad. My condolecnes to his Wife, and children and grandchildren and all of his close friends.
My email for the family is [email protected].

We send our warmest love to Kay and her family. Our journey with the Ruff family began Thanksgiving weekend 1981. We were subscribers to Howard's Ruff Times. Howard held a seminar for youth that we took our youngest daughter Susan to attend. She was impressed with conservative values and wrote Howard a letter thanking him for the experience. He sent an invitation for Susan and her parents to visit him and his family in Utah. The entire family greeted us with warmth, kindness and an abundance of love. Howard and Kay also shared a gift that was priceless to them; the plan of salvation. Howard baptized our daughter Susan on the BYU campus where she was attending and baptized us in Escondido, CA. He and Kay attended our temple sealing in the Los Angeles Temple. We are grateful to the Ruff family for their encouragement and their strength of testimony as we entered into eternal covenants. Life is eternal and Howard has entered into the Lord's presence with full reward of being a faithful servant while on his mortal journey. Our love always; Bob and Sandi Cook
