EMMA CAMP Obituary

Emma Leigh Camp 1977 ~ 2011 Emma Leigh Camp; beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend; passed away on August 6, 2011 from a pulmonary embolism. Emma was born on January 18, 1977 to Steve and Carol Talmage Camp in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Murray High School and the University of Utah. Smart, sophisticated, and determined practically from birth, Emma asked as a small child if she could go to pre-school when she was finished with college. She spent her lifetime perfecting a vast range of talents; Emma was not only a brilliant artist and a magnificent cook, but she could master anything she put her mind to, even taking a gig as a junior high school French teacher. Emma's humorous way of making everyone welcome and her attention to the smallest details made her a natural at her job as Community Council Advisor at Daybreak. But most of all, Emma was generous. She gave, without question, of her time, talents, and means to everyone she met, no matter how briefly. In particular, Emma had a soft spot for all animals and shared an instant bond with them. Emma is survived by her parents, brothers Ian (Carolynn) and Daniel, sister Jane, niece Mary Virginia, grandmother AnnaBelle (John) Burr, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her dog, Oscar, who will miss her always. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS meetinghouse located at 363 East Vine Street in Murray. A viewing will be held the evening prior, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street in Murray. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, www.bestfriends.org, (435) 644-2001. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com

Dear Steve, Carol & Family,

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your incredible daughter, and my heart aches for all of you. I have always admired your family, particularly your many talents, thoughtfulness, and loyal friendship.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in the difficult days ahead as you cope with the loss of her earthly companionship. While I know from experience that the grief of having a child pre-decease you is the most difficult to bear, I also know that cherished memories and hope for the future through our faith and knowledge of the Plan of Happiness bring comfort and peace. I pray that the love and concern of friends and family will help to ease the burden of your sorrow.

With love and deepest sympathy,

Pat Griffiths

Dear Camp Family:

I worked with Emma for a short while at Rio Tinto. She was always upbeat, even when you know she had a lot on her plate. She was great to work with and always poured her heart into every project. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Ian:

Two summer ago, seeing you helped assuage my pain at the loss of my friend, and though at this moment I feel fully how slight is my ability to say any word that could touch the depth of your grief, I hope it helps in a small way to know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember Emma from our mutual association with, and interest in, writing back at Murray High, and I know the subsequent years only increased the traits of kindness and creativity I still clearly recall from those years past.

Please accept my deepest condolences to you and your family. Everyone I've ever met with the last name "Camp" has been a great human being.

My heart hurts for the Camp family. I am so sorry for your loss. In high school I admired Emma for being so mature and on top of things. I felt like she had it all figured out while the rest of us were still trying to grow up. I am saddened that the world lost Emma much much too soon.

Very sad and shocking to see someone as dear (and young) as Emma in here. Long ago memories from the past. Emma will always be known as one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. I admired her greatly and was truly amazed by her life when we went to dinner with Jr. High friends a few months back. She was quite an eloquent and amazing conversationalist/story teller. Your light on this Earth will be missed; sometimes the angels can help more from the other side.

We have had the pleasure of working with Emma for years at Daybreak. Amazingly talented in so many areas, perhaps Emma's most wonderful gift was the ability to make everyone feel like a treasured friend.
After a career spent catering, we can't measure how much we value clients who become close friends. Emma was a friend from the very beginning.
Her position will be filled, but she will never be replaced. We will miss her more than we can express and we are so very grateful for the time we were able to spend with her.

Steve and Carol and family...
I have such fabulous memories of Emma and your family. Who knew when Mike married Charlene I would get 2 more nieces and 2 more nephews. I loved Emma, her candid spirit her welcoming attitude and her unique wit. She was always so terrific and appreciative with me and I had countless and many memorable times together with her, Jenny and Ashley . She will be missed and loved forever. Know that my thoughts and love are with you all.

Dear Steve Carol and family,
We are deeply saddened to hear of Emma's passing. We are so very thankful you were all able to attend and visit with us,your extended family of many cousins, at the Camp family reunion. I was shocked and saddened to read today of Emma's death. She was beautiful, determined, and VERY smart (like her mom and Jane)! I remember her well in my computer/keyboarding classes at Parkside Elementary. She was usually the first one to complete the assignments and was very competitive! I know she will be missed greatly by her family and friends. May the plan of salvation give you comfort and peace at this time of sorrow.
