Dear Matt,

The sadness I feel with your passing away so suddenly is now becoming unbearable. Every morning when I awake my heart is broken. When will the sadness pass?

You were such a wonderful son. You never lost your spirit when things weren’t going well for you. Things were changing for the better in your life—you would have succeeded in life. I wish that I could have seen you get all the happiness that you deserved. I am proud of you Matt. I love you for being such a wonderful, caring son. I have heard many great things about you from your friends and co-workers. What a fine young man you were. I am so grateful that my last words to you were “I love you Matt, take care of yourself”. I pray every night to God that you are in a better place now where he is with you and you don’t have any more stress from worrying about seizures.

So take care of yourself Matt and one day we will all be together again.

Love,

Dad

Matt,
I am so grateful for the time we had as a family. We were truly blessed to have had such a respectful, kind, patient, and loving example as an addition to our family. I will forever treasure all the happy memories I have. Thank you for the happiness and loving care you gave my daughter and the rest of our family. May God watch over and take care of your family and may they be comforted by the extraordinary example you lived your life. Suzanne Faddis

Just talked you a couple weeks ago. Wished you could've made that trip out here to Pittsburgh that we talked about, to relive the good times. It was great getting to know you for that year in Salt Lake City. It was great watching the Jazz play and sharing a few cold ones with you. Maybe one year the Jazz will beat the Lakers and go on to win it all! That day I'll celebrate for you. Later, buddy.

Matt,

It was wonderful knowing you. I am so sorry you had to go. I already miss you saying "Hi Sheila" or "Bye Sheila, have a nice day" whenever you pass by my desk. You were so concerned when I mentioned to you one time that I have been having troubles sleeping. You insisted that I should see a doctor (and you even recommended your doctor) as soon as possible. Now I completely understand why. Thanks my friend. I miss our short conversations in the break room about school, my kids, etc. You will always have a part in my heart. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Matt,
The last time I saw you was just in passing. I told you it was good to see you and I'd see you again next time. I had no idea there would not be a next time. I wish your life hadn't been cut short. You still had so much potential left to offer this world. Although your work on this earth is done, I'd like to think that you will be paving the way for the rest of us when it's our time to meet you in heaven. May God be with you and your family always.

I already miss our random conversations about DM, Muse, HP, and the Jazz. I miss teasing you about your swearing, or all your strange calamities that happened to you. Thanks for always having faith in me when I didn't. And I still have your quote on my wall on a post-it, and when I look at it, it makes me smile.

I hope you are happy where you are. We will sure miss you, the boys most of all. I'm glad you are not struggling with your health anymore and I hope to talk to you once again someday...

A Letter From Heaven -

To my dearest family, some things Id like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here, theres no more tears of sadness;
Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through.
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, I welcome you.
Its good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.

I need you here so badly, you are part of my plan.
There is so much that we can do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and Id like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who is in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night....My day was not in vain.
And now I am contented... that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick them up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when its time for you to go...from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.

Goodbye, Matt. You were a great man and I was always impressed by your spirit and the enthusiasm you showed for those things in your life most precious to you.

I'm sure that you would have been a positive force in whatever field or profession to ended up in. You were taken from this world too soon, but for what it's worth, you touched and impacted everyone around you and helped make them better, in some form or another.

Rest in peace, Matt; you will be missed.
