1933 ~ 2018
Arlene Lynn Welch, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend died August 5, 2018 after a valiant struggle with cancer. She was born May 8, 1933 in Lovell, Wyoming to Orin and LaPrele Robertson Lynn. Arlene married her sweetheart Robert Godfrey Welch September 22, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple and they shared 50 happy years together before Bob died in 2004.
Arlene was a loving and devoted wife and mother. After her children were older, she completed her degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas where Bob taught Economics. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in education. She taught third grade for 25 years at Bradford Elementary in Iowa Park, Texas.
Bob and Arlene retired from teaching and in 2001 moved to American Fork, Utah. During her 85 years of life, she was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ and served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Bob (2004) and son Robert Lynn Welch (1975). She will be greatly missed by her children Lorri and Ray Newitt of Phoenix, AZ, Ross and Pam Welch of Alpine, UT and Reed and Jennifer Welch of Amarillo, TX, her 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Verna Vee Lynn Tew and by in-laws Terry and Jerry Brown and Gae Asay.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 on Saturday, August 11th at the Manila 7th Ward building, 1320 West 3540 North in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may gather from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Cowley Wyoming Cemetery at 9:00 Monday morning.
