BEATRICE BRADSHAW Obituary

Beatrice L. Bradshaw 1920 ~ 2010 Beatrice Lillian Child McGiven Bradshaw was born August 16, 1920, to Urbane Seer and Lillian Ottley Child in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away peacefully in Alpine, Utah on January 22, 2010, surrounded by loved ones. She was the oldest of seven children. She attended public school, graduating from South High School and attended LDS Business College. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bea married Grant Albert McGiven in 1941. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1942. Bea had three children: Gary, Mary Jeanne and Fred. Bea and Grant raised their children in the San Francisco Bay Area. For 18 years Bea worked for Sylvania Electronics. She was a model working mother. She held down a full-time job, kept a pristine home, was an active and supportive wife, mother and grandmother and still managed to find time to workout every day. After Grant died in 1976, Bea was twice lucky in love and married Samuel Rawl Bradshaw in 1977. Bea and Sam lived for a time in England. She thrived on the adventure of living abroad and traveling the world. When Sam retired they returned to live in the Bay Area, until Sam's death in 1992. Bea treasured family above all else. She was a doting grandmother and delighted in the accomplishments of each of her grandchildren. She could often be heard bragging about them to anyone who would listen. Bea served in various callings in her church including Primary President and Young Women's President in her ward. She was also a faithful and loving visiting teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Grant McGiven and Samuel Bradshaw; her sisters, Leita and Florence; and her brother, Richard. She is survived by her brothers Urbane (Joan) Child and Dennis (Ruth) Urry, and her sister Mary (Kay) Roberts. She is also survived by her son, Gary McGiven and his wife Susan; her daughter, Mary Jeanne Johnson and her husband Cliff; and her son, Fred McGiven and his wife Ellen. Her legacy also includes her 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Bea was also blessed to have three stepdaughters and their eight children. Funeral services for Bea will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland 36th LDS Ward Chapel at 11800 North 6411 West, Highland, Utah. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah and an additional viewing at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to services.

Please know I am thinking of your whole family as you adjust to the absence of this wonderful person in your lives. Hold dear to the loving memories you have of her--and write them down to share with those family members who will never get to know her here on earth.

I cherish the interactions I had with "Grandma Bradshaw". Though they were small ones, I feel richer knowing how her generous hospitality added so much to Harold and Jeanna's wedding celebration--and the months following when they lived with her.

Sincerely, Georgia

I'll look forward to seeing you again, Grandma. --Paul
