CHERYL FELAND

Cheryl Lynn Crook Feland 1953 ~ 2010 Cheryl Lynn Crook Feland, our cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2010.Cheryl was born on August 19, 1953 to Howard Peterson Crook and Margie Ruth Garrett. She was born in Idaho Falls, ID and graduated from Skyline High School. She went on to attend Rick's College and graduated from BYU. Later in life she obtained two Masters Degrees. Cheryl served an LDS mission from 1974-75 in the Missouri Independence mission. Cheryl then married George Feland July 28, 1979 and they had two sons, J.R. and Joshua. Cheryl worked for 33 years as a teacher and administrator in the Alpine School District. She taught Geography and History at the following schools: American Fork Jr. High, Mountain Ridge Jr. High and Timberline Middle School. She was the recipient of many awards of recognition during her teaching career including the "Outstanding Teacher Award" and the "Hero Award." She was loved and admired by fellow teachers and students. Cheryl officially retired in 2006 but came back to teach part-time through this school year. During her life she served in many church callings including 11 years as a Young Women President and serving an Inner-City Service Mission. She loved the Lord immensely and served Him before herself. She influenced and touched the lives of many people throughout her years of church service. She loved and doted over her kids and grandkids. As she stated so often, "They were the light of her life." Every time she spoke with her friends she always talked about her grandkids Gabriel and Shaylee. Their nickname for her was "Mama Cheryl." Their favorite things to do together were: sleepovers, playing games, reading, coloring, playing cars, tic-tac-toe, and watching movies. Cheryl was a grand influencer of people for the good. She touched the hearts and minds of thousands of students. Whether the student was highly successful or struggled scholastically she inspired them to do their best. Similarly, Cheryl lifted all who she came in contact with closer to the Savior. Her greatest success was her influence on her husband. Cheryl is survived by her husband George, two sons, J.R. (Chrissy), Joshua (Tammy), grandkids Gabriel and Shaylee, siblings, Beverly Garlick and Steve Crook. Mom died due to complications with Pneumonia that later developed into AIP (Acute Interstitial Pneu-monitis). Funeral services will be the following: Viewing at the Larkin Funeral Home located at 10600 S. 1950 E. Sandy, UT on Thursday, July 8th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the LDS chapel on 10227 S. 4000 W., South Jordan, UT at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment will be on Saturday, July 10th in her beloved Star Valley, Wyoming at the Etna, Wyoming Cemetery.
