Delworth Young Obituary

In 1932 on a lovely March day--'twas the 10th if we're getting specific.
A Young man was born to Odin and Rhodora and his life was really terrific!
He grew up in Salt Lake, where he found true J.O.Y., and went to many a school.
He had multiple degrees, a wealth of knowledge, yet still liked to act the fool.
He steadfastly lived "creative incompetence", something he preached his whole life.
He lived in Utah, Brazil, Idaho, and even Tonga, with five daughters and his wife.
He served God, his country, and fellow man, all while constantly learning more.
With this guy around, plus JoAn and 10 kids, life was never, ever a bore.
To the family came in-laws and awesome grandkids--43 to be exact,
Plus 38 greats, and 3 on the way. We all knew we were loved; that's a fact!
His advice was all good, some say even witty; it could help out the young and the old.
It was wry, sometimes daring, always backed with experience, and often sounding bold.
"One more thing what not to do" was a popular phrase heard 'round here.
And "don't take yourself too damn seriously" was advised to us each year.
He was a jack-of-all-trades yet master of none. He'd fix anything with goop and duct tape.
Gardener, counselor, teacher, storyteller, friend -- a hero without the red cape.
His shortcuts are famous, the stuff legends are made of!
His kids think they're famous too.
They sing, dance, play volleyball, and think they're hilarious!
Thanks Dad--we all learned it from you.
The biggest lessons we learned: Love God, and family's the MOST important thing.
"We're RICH!" he'd tell us, "We just have no money--We are rich in abundant blessings!"
Dad, we're going to miss you; your laugh, your smile, all of your wise, funny ways.
But we know that we will see you again--we will just be counting down the days.

One of my earliest memories of Keith, was when I was in high school and in 4-H. Keith took a group of us to Colorado one summer for an exchange experience for one week. His daughter, Sally, was with us and one of his older daughters as well. I remember thinking he was one of the funnest men around. I have known and associated with him several times over the years and have had the privilege of being in his ward here in AF for several years. He will be dearly missed. Barbara S Pineda
