Born April 8, 1929 in Ostermundigen, Bern, Switzerland to Walter and Lina Gilgen Ruf, she immigrated to the US and arrived in New York Harbor on her 20th birthday, 1949. She loved cooking, gardening, Swiss chocolate, and Swiss cheese. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various church callings, including 30 years in the Jordan River Temple and two missions with her husband to Marseille, France and Papeete, Tahiti.
Eliza is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marlyn Fife; 9 children, Ragena (George) Simper, Shawna (Jerry) Draper, Renita (Terry) Calton, Walter (Dana) Fife, Tamara (Jack) Tracy, Vanya (Alan) Slagowski, James (Jill) Fife, Brent (Kathy) Fife, Peter (LeAnn) Fife; 44 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; her sister, Liselotte Anderson; and her brother, Wilford Ruf.
