Franklin David Day Obituary
1920 ~ 2013
Franklin David Day, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at his home in American Fork, Utah.
He was born in Hunter, Utah October 31, 1920 to David B. and Inez Powell Day. He loved to learn and received his bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees from Brigham Young University. He always felt he had BYU-Blue blood in his veins.
He served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-as a young man to the Northwestern States, and two missions to England with his eternal companion. Shortly after his first mission he entered the Marine Corp Sixth Division, where he proudly served his country during World War II in the South Pacific. He loved the American Flag and what it stands for.
At the end of World War II, he was assigned to the Naval Ordinance Plant near Pocatello, Idaho, where he met his sweetheart and very best friend, Mary. They were married on November 19, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple and enjoyed 65 wonderful years together.
He enjoyed a wonderful career with the LDS Church Education System, teaching youth to come unto Christ. He taught seminary in Panguitch, Utah, Shelley, Idaho, and institute in Cedar City, Utah; coordinated all seminaries and institutes of religion on the Atlantic Coast; and helped establish Church Education in many areas of Asia and the South Pacific. He loved the people with whom he associated, taught, and served. He retired as an Assistant Commissioner of Church Education.
He is the father of five children: Diana (deceased), Janaye, Kent (Danette), Julene, and David (JoLyn); the grandfather of 11; and the great-grandfather of 13. He has one living brother Reed B. Day (Ruth). He is loved and admired by all of his family for his humor, wisdom, guidance, and counsel.
The family will receive friends at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork, Utah, Sunday March 10th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the American Fork West Stake Center, 500 N. 700 W., with a viewing prior beginning at 9:45 a.m. Burial in American Fork Cemetery.
