Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018 at the age of 88 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Eureka, Utah on June 17, 1929 to Karl Gottfried Hanney and Beatrice Mae Franks Hanney. While attending high school in Milford, Utah, Kent met and later married Doris Duveen McCulley on December 3, 1947. They later solemnized their marriage in the Manti Temple on December 3, 1951.
After joining the at the age of 21, Kent devoted his life to serving others and righteously fulfilled many callings including bishop, member of the stake presidency, temple sealer, and stake patriarch. Since becoming a patriarch in 2001, he was honored to bestow 458 blessings. His great joy was serving in the Jordan River Temple sealing families together for eternity.
Kent was a dedicated, patient and loving father and we are blessed and forever grateful to call him "dad". Kent is survived by his children, Michael Hanney, Leslie Hanney Shaw, David (Lorri) Hanney, Sherrie (Tom) Blodgett and Marianne (Lewis) DeLange, 22 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Murray, on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Belview Ward chapel, 6300 South 300 East, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. preceded by a special viewing from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery.
