Salt Lake City, UT-Dare passed away on January 1, 2018 in Salt Lake City. He was born on the May 5, 1929 to Woodruff and Anna Adair Allen in Delta, Utah. Dare spent his childhood years in Richfield and graduated from high school there. He is a graduate of Snow College, The US naval electronics school at Treasure Island, San Francisco, and the University of Utah where he met his lifelong sweetheart Diane. He served his country aboard the USS Manchester during the Korean War and was employed for 33 years at Sperry-Unisys, retiring in 1990.
Dare was an active member of the Salt Lake County Master Gardeners Association. He and Diane enjoyed caring for their beautiful yard and garden in Holladay. He loved making things grow. He was an active member of the LDS church, serving in various scouting programs and later as financial clerk and financial auditor.
He is survived by his wife Diane; two sons, Greg and Mark; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Viewings will be held Friday, January 5th from 6-7pm and Saturday, January 6th from 9:40-10:40am at an LDS Chapel, 5450 Holladay Blvd, Holladay, UT. The funeral will follow the Saturday viewing and will begin at 11:00am at the same location. Dare will be interred at the Holladay Memorial Park.
