Janice Marie Izatt Obituary
1941 ~ 2017
"I Love Rainy Mondays"
I passed away on October 10, 2017 after my second courageous battle with cancer. Through trials and adversity, I have truly learned that "Joy cometh in the morning."
I entered this life on November 13, 1941 in Nampa, Idaho, one of the most beautiful valleys on God's green earth. He gave me two beautiful people as parents: Wendell Chase and Helen Johnson Chase. They gave me bounteous love and security. A younger brother, Rick, rounded out our family.
A mission for the LDS Church to Argentina in 1963 not only brought great joy, but introduced me to my husband, John O. Izatt II. After my release, I spent two years working as a secretary to President Ernest L. Wilkinson, president of BYU. Then John and I were married in the Manti Temple on May 27, 1967 for time and all eternity. Three great children were born to us: Jonathan in 1968, Jason in 1970, and Julie Anne in 1972. Jonathan died in an accident in 1990 at the age of 22. Jason (Kimberly) and Julie (Brian) have both married in the temple and have given us 9 grandchildren and they are the light of our lives.
We spent 21 wonderful years in the Air Force and a highlight was three years in Stuttgart, Germany. I drove the autobahn and as a family we traveled to many countries and had marvelous experiences.
I love nature, cool breezes, animals, gardening, mountains, doing Family History, reading good books, and needlework. Serving a mission with my husband at the Family History Library in Salt Lake during the Olympics was another highlight in my life.
I have been an active member of the LDS Church and have served in many callings including Relief Society President twice, Stake Extraction Director, and Stake Family History Consultant, to name a few.
I will miss these earthly things, but so look forward to the wonderful things awaiting me on the other side of the veil: the hugs from my son, my parents, my brother, and all my grandparents. I sincerely hope that I have lived the kind of life my Heavenly Father expected of me. Until we meet again!
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Marrott Meadows LDS Chapel, 102 North 2400 West, Provo, Utah. Friends may call for the viewing at the church Friday, October 13 from 6-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at the Logan City Cemetery.
