Jerry and Edith Dunn Obituary
1931 ~ 2013
Jerry and Edith Dunn both passed away October 3rd, 2013 of causes incident to age. They were surrounded by family members in their Spanish Fork home and died within hours of each other.
As Edith's health deteriorated in recent years, Jerry's daily devotion of caring for her was the focus of all his energy until hers was spent and his depleted.
Our natural tendency has always been to think of them as a team. To say "Jerry and Edith" seems almost more natural than to speak of them separately. And so it is as fitting as it is remarkable that as they lived life together, so should they move on together.
Jerry was born January 2, 1931 to LeRoy Fitzgerald Dunn and Pearl Webb Dunn in Mammoth, Utah. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Nam wars. He worked for many years for the U.S. Army Reserve and later for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a strong contributor to the Spanish Fork Junior Athletic Program serving as a coach, umpire and in many other capacities.
Edith was born November 14, 1931 to Edward Ray Huntington and Otelia Nielson Huntington in Palmyra, Utah. She worked at Safeway stores for many years. She devoted her time to her family and to others with countless acts of kindness and service.
They were married June 7, 1950 in the Manti Temple and served in many different capacities as faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Neither enjoyed the limelight, both preferring to quietly go about making a difference as they observed the everyday needs that arose in the lives of family, neighbors and friends. With them, words were few "doing" was what mattered most.
Their lives of quiet service, goodness, integrity, reliability and hard work are to all of us both a priceless memory and an enduring example.
They are survived by their son, Donald W. Dunn (Lisa), and daughter, Deanna Dunn Golden (David), seven grandchildren and fourteen great grand children.
Jerry is further survived by his brother, James Dunn, and sister, Rosalie Johnson.
Edith is further survived her brother, Glen Huntington.
The family would like to thank all those at the DaVita Dialysis Center in Provo, Utah, especially Matt and Holly, for their many years of loving care and kindness.
A graveside service will be held at the Spanish Fork Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah on Friday, October 4th at 3:00 p.m. to honor and remember them.
