Keith Christensen Obituary
1923 ~ 2017
Keith Willmor Christensen, 94, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017, in Provo, Utah. He was born April 13, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Willmor Ernest and Ruby Victoria Stewart Christensen. He married his sweetheart, Vera Cahoon, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Married more than 70 years, we know they are happy to be together again. They are the parents of five children - Douglas Keith (Linda Swan) Christensen, Ann (Larry) Goodwin, Catherine (Rod) Cloward, Lynda (Greg) Baldwin, and Steven Willmor (Michelle Brown) Christensen. They were blessed with 26 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren, with more on the way.
Keith grew up in Salt Lake City, graduating from South High School and LDS Business College. He was drafted at the age of 19 and served in Guadalcanal, the Philippines, and Japan through the end of World War II. After the war, he began his career in banking. He was cashier and manager of the Utah National Bank of Provo, which was later acquired by Zions Bank. He retired as Senior Vice President over Personnel for Zions Bank in Salt Lake City. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving twice as bishop. He was currently serving as organist for his branch Sunday School.
Keith will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He had an unfailing memory and loved to share stories of his long life, many experiences and interests. He had a deep love of music and played the organ every day. He was honored to play the Tabernacle organ on Temple Square on his 90th birthday.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera; sister, Faye; son, Doug and grandson, Jason Cloward. He is survived by his sister, Jean Smith.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at the LDS Meetinghouse located at 1222 Nathaniel Drive, Pleasant Grove, UT, where a Visitation will be held prior from 9:30 to 10:45 am.
