KELLY MORRILL Obituary

Kelly Jean Davis Morrill Layton, Utah Kelly Jean Davis Morrill, 44, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2009 after a long and valiant battle with Arnold Chiari Malformation. Kelly was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was born February 4, 1965 in Ogden, Utah to James D. Davis and Dixie L. Bench. She graduated from Layton High School, attended Utah State University, and served the deaf as a sign language missionary in the Virginia Roanoke LDS mission. On June 3, 1989, Kelly married her best friend, Robert D. Morrill in the Logan LDS Temple. Kelly was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved teaching the gospel and served as a Seminary and Relief Society teacher for many years. She was devoted to her family and always encouraged her children to excel in whatever they were engaged in, to serve others, and to make good choices daily. Kelly also had a great love for individuals with special needs. She worked with children for two summers at the Meadowood Springs Speech and Hearing Camp in Oregon. She also cared for many foster children that lived in her home. While supporting her husband in the U.S. Air Force, Kelly served as a sign language interpreter and advocate for the deaf in many locations throughout the United States. Most recently, Kelly started a website to provide help, support and information for others who are affected by the Chiari Malformation (www.utahchiariconnection.blogspot.com) Kelly was a very talented writer having recently completed a touching and inspiring Christmas novel that she was hoping to have published. Kelly is survived by her husband, Rob; her four children whom she loved dearly, Tyler, Chace, Sam, and Sarah; her parents, Jim and Dixie Davis; six brothers and sisters, Christine (David) Rose, Cory (Janalee) Davis, Kevin (Jamie) Davis, Camille (David) Thomas, Curtis (Amy) Davis, and Carrie (Mike) Kieholm; and countless nephews, nieces, extended family members and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Layton Northridge LDS Stake Center, 2375 East 3225 North, Layton. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment, Clinton City Cemetery. I would love it if someone who knew how to do it, could please consider getting this Kelly Morrill Guest Book Memorium on YouTube. I never met Kelly, but I posted a note to her family with my heartfelt sympathy. I believe this tribute is too important to remove on Nov. 12, 2009. Is there anyone out there who could help keep this here or move it to YouTube somehow? I am reaching out with my heart and pray that my message reaches another Angel....like Kelly who touched so many lives and may she forever rest in the love and peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

So sorry to hear of your lost. She sounds like a windeful person to have known. My 16 yr old daughter has Chiari also and Hydrocephlaus. And I worry everyday if this is going to be the end of her short life. I am also working on making Chiari well known in our area. We live in Florida and there are not any support groups here so she feels like she is fighting alone. I wish you all the best and pray that one day we will beat this terrible disease.

So sorry to hear of Kelly's passing. I did not know her but am a fellow chiarian. I have suffered with ACM symptoms for 25 years. Life with Chiari leaves so many uncertanties in a persons life and an innner loneliness, because not to many people really understand Chiari. We are very similar as I also worked with handicapped childern, but gave it up after surgery. I still foster childern as well, 23 years now. God has given me the strength to carry on many times throughout this journey and I hope Kelly's family can draw strength from him during this time of loss. My deepest sympathy to her family. Deanne Morley, in Ontario, Canada.
