LeLan Gordon, 88, passed away peacefully at his home of 63 years surrounded by his loving family on September 17, 2013. LeLan was born on December 22, 1924, in Provo Bench (Orem), Utah to James Milton and Romania Gordon, the youngest of twelve children. He attended Orem schools and graduated from Lincoln High School, after which he began his military service in the Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre, where he was wounded twice and was awarded the Purple Heart, Oakleaf Cluster and the Silver Star for Bravery over and above the call of duty. After his honorable discharge he entered the plastering trade and worked until 1966 at which time he started working with Provo School District as a Maintenance Carpenter until he retired.
On March 27, 1948 he married the love of his life, Donna Marie Baldwin of Cedar City, Utah and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Together they built a home and raised three sons and a daughter, all of whom he loved very much and was proud of their accomplishments and their character. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as counselor in three Bishoprics, on the Stake High Counsel and many other positions. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was quick to bring a smile to everyone's face. "Keep smiling, it looks good on you." He always had a song in his heart and on his lips. He made friends everywhere he went and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie of 65 years, and his four children: David Lee (Debbie) Gordon, Susan Sims, Kelly Dee (Shauna) Gordon and Gregory B. (Suzanne) Gordon, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Max B. Gordon. He is preceded in death by his parents, 11 siblings (including his twin sister), a Son-in-law Boyd H. Sims and a Daughter-in-law Laurie Gordon.
