Lois Olsen Obituary

Lois Olsen
Monroe, Utah
Lois Lorensen Olsen, 93, passed away May 29, 2013 in Ogden. She was born on January 2, 1920 in Elsinore at home to Jesse Leon and Bertha Marie Larsen Lorensen. As a child, she was active in Primary, MIA, and Sunday School, even though she didn't get baptized until she was 15 years old.
Lois met her eternal sweetheart, Leland Olsen, in high school seminary class. In school, Lois debated, danced, acted in school plays, played catcher on the softball team, and served as senior class president. She was valedictorian of her graduating class.
After graduating from South Sevier High School, Lois attended Snow College on scholarship.
Leland and Lois were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 30, 1941. Two daughters blessed their lives: Saundra Lee, and Connie.
To supplement their income, Lois began teaching school in 1948. She continued teaching for 38 years. She was given the prestigious Teacher of the Year Award by Sevier School District. Lois was also voted Woman of the Year by Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
From 1988 to 1989 Lois and Leland served an LDS mission to the Sydney, Australia temple. They were also faithful temple workers at the Manti Temple for 18 years.
Lois enjoyed sewing, embroidery work, oil painting, ceramics, quilting, and writing poetry. If someone said it couldn't be done, Lois time and again proved that it could!
Lois is survived by her husband, Leland; children: Saundra Lee (Sam) Parker, Salt Lake City; and Connie (Gary) Jensen, Ogden; 9 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Norma (Ned) Warenski.

Dear Olsen Family,
I am grateful for Lois' example in my life. She was my kindergarten teacher, and I grew up in the same ward in Monroe. She was a wonderful woman and a good example in my life. God bless you at this time of mourning.

My thoughts are with your family. Mrs. Olsen was my kindergarten teacher and one of my favorite teachers. She would always say hello and ask about me when I seen her. She is a special lady. Evelyn Rasmussen Hoyle
