I just learned of Mr. Hennick's passing. What a great influence he was to so many of us. He loved and believed in each student. My first encounter with him was in the library at Majestic Elementary School. I was helping at the desk and he asked how I was. "Fine," I replied. He soon returned with the dictionary and asked me to begin reading the entries for the word "fine". I soon saw none of them equated to what I meant, and changed it to "I am doing well." I "only" had him for health, but he introduced me to the person who would become my best friend the next year. I loved him for his goodness and kindness to all.

Mr. Hennick was my teacher in the 6th grade. He was so passionate. I will never forget his, "Never take the first one" lecture, and I appreciate him so much for that. My greatest teacher ever.

I am 51 years old and I still think often of the life lessons Mr. Hennick taught me in 6th grade. (Never never never take the first one, and there will never be a second one.) Simply put, his teaching effected and refined me. And his caring, kind way was always evident and very memorable. I wish he'd known of the long-reaching influence he had. Teachers matter.

To the family and friends of Mr. Hennick, I am sorry for your loss; I know you all were the light of his life. Mr. Hennick was my 5th grade teacher and my favorite teacher of all time. He taught me the importance of kindness and helped me realize my passion for writing (we did journal writing daily in class), a passion that would earn me a college scholarship. I am truly grateful that we crossed paths when my mind was so eager to learn and he was so eager to teach. I am certain he touched the lives of so many. Rest easy, Mr. Hennick.

Mr. Hennick was my 7th grade Core Teacher at WJMS 1980-1981.
I can still hear him as he made us laugh every morning "Brad, what did you have for breakfast this morning?"
It seems just about every evening I would have a story to tell my family at the dinner table, something he had said, or some unique way in which he had taught us.
Those who were taught by him will know what I mean when I say I was the winner of the "applesauce applause" award that year.
He taught us the things he was "supposed" to teach.
But more importantly, he taught us by example how to be a person of integrity, how to be life long learners "never, ever, ever give up!"
And most importantly, each person in that class knew they had a teacher who genuinely loved them.
"Old Teachers Never Die, they just lose their class." [Actual quote that hung on his classroom door.]
God be with you till we meet again Mr. Hennick...

Mr. Hennick was an amazing teacher. Always came to school with a smile on his face, and something to laugh about. It is sad that the world loses the great ones early. My thoughts are with family and friends of this great man during this tough time.

So many people come and go in our lives but every once in a while there are the greats that truly shape who you are to your core. I had the honor of being in his 5th grade class and then later volunteering in his classroom as a high school student. The countless conversations in his classroom as a young adult... I'm so blessed to have had that time with him. Those who know me well know I don't hold on to "things" unless they hold special meaning. This journal he gave me in 1993 remains among my few treasures because it reminds me of his guidance and the many lessons he taught me, not the fifth grade curriculum kind of lessons but the believe-in-yourself, always-keep-moving, how-to-be-a-good-person, kind of lessons that I can only hope to impart on my children. It is not lost on me tonight either that my longest lasting friendships were forged in his classroom ❤ The world lost a great man today, but it is so much better after having him in it. Rest in peace Mr. Hennick.

Mr. Hennick was my 5th grade teacher and he helped shape me into the person I am today. I have tried for years to get in contact with him, but was never able to as I've moved around a lot. He made everyone feel special. I will forever be grateful to him for his kindness. Thank you Mr. Hennick! Love; Kristy (Wright) Hunsaker

One of the best teachers! I will always remember him, his patience, love, his encouragement! He truly wanted the best for each of his students! He was so much fun. I thought it was so cool and loved it when he would play kickball with our whole class. I later had him for a sub in math in highschool and he remembered me! Thankyou for truly caring and wanting the best for me!Stephanie Geist

So very sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. Hennick. He was one of my favorite elementary school teachers. He got me through a rough 5th grade year and helped to instill a confidence in myself I didn't have before I met him. He was influential in my life and I still hold dear the journal and letter he wrote me that year. Two quotes I remember him teaching were, You must do the thing you think you cannot do. and The faintest ink is better than the best memory....so write, write, right, right! I have thought about him over the years but haven't seen him since 5th grade. I'm grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing and learning from him! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family!
