1963 ~ 2013
Margaret Cope, age 50 years, passed away Dec. 2 at her home in Orem, Utah after a year long battle with breast cancer.
She was born Oct 21, 1963 in Provo, Utah, the fifth of six children born to Frank Austin and Janice Olson Cope. Margaret grew up in Orem and graduated from Orem High School where she participated in oratory and was editor of the school newspaper.
She lived in Omaha, Nebraska for a few years but returned to Orem in 1985 to help take care of her mother until she passed away.
Margaret was very friendly and sociable, quick and witty with a wicked sense of humor. She was a talented writer and we will miss the letters and cards she faithfully sent for important occasions. She loved to read and garden and was interested and concerned about others-especially her family. The light of her life was her daughter Esme and she loved spending time with her.
Margaret suffered with many health challenges and she appreciated the service of her brothers and sisters-especially Joanne, who was her devoted care taker this past year. She loved her family and enjoyed being with them. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was grateful to have kind neighbors and ward members who helped her in many ways.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter Esme and siblings Alana Cope Eaton (Andrew), Mary Cope Nelson (Steven), Robert Cope (Tammy), Raymond Cope (Naomi), Joanne Cope, many nieces and nephews and her beloved pets.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Saturday, Dec. 7 at Sharon Park 3rd Ward Chapel, 225 E. 200 N, Orem. The viewing will be Fri. from 6-8 pm at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 So. State St., Orem and Saturday from 9-9:45 am at the church prior to the funeral.
