Morgan Young Obituary

Elder Morgan W. Young 1984 ~ 2006 Elder Morgan Winslow Young, age 21, was a missionary who served with honor for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Virginia Richmond Mission. In the early hours of Tuesday, January 3, 2006 he received his transfer to a more exalted estate and was spared of any mortal anguish and pain. He was born on 11 May 1984 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mark Winslow and Kathy Williams Young. He was a graduate of Bountiful High School and completed one year at Weber State University prior to his mission. He had a keen sense of humor and a well-developed imagination. He loved his family, was great with children, had an interest in art and computers, and enjoyed reading biographies. He was an Eagle Scout. He loved his mission and the people of Virginia. He served with diligence and enthusiasm and was blessed with outstanding companions. Although he had served for 21 months, he didn't want to come home. He will never be released as a missionary. Special thanks to President and Sister Spencer Kirk of the Virginia Richmond Mission, Elder Joshua Heidbrink, the First Presidency and Officers of the Church and local leaders, the missionaries and members of the Virginia Richmond Mission for their kindness and compassion, and to the local law enforcement and hospital staff for their sensitivity and professionalism. We greatly appreciate the generosity, love and resources provided to our family from all those who have helped us during this difficult time. Survived by his parents Mark and Kathy Young; siblings, Erin Lynn Young, Brennan William Young, and Helen Katlin Young; his grandparents Bud Williams, and J. Winslow and Marlene Young, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Bountiful 31st Ward Chapel, 585 East Center Street. Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Tuesday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Dear Kathy...

I just wanted to let you and your family know how much we are thinking of you at this time.

My parents and I were truly saddened to hear of your loss, you are in our thoughts, through this most difficult time.

It is our Sincere hope that you always keep fond memories of Morgan with you, for we know it will be those memories that will see you through the difficult days that lay ahead.

We would like to share with you a poem that we hope will comfort you.

If I should go tomorrow

It would never be goodbye,

For I have left my heart with you,

So don't you ever cry.

The love that's deep within me,

Shall reach you from the stars,

You'll feel it from the heavens,

And it will heal the scars.

Your faith and hope are truly an inspiration to us, as we have watched you go through this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Dear Young Family,

You don't know me, but after hearing of your son's death I feel that we are a part of Morgan's life. The morning that we heard this sad news my son and I were sitting on the couch and I looked over at him and asked him if he still wanted to go on a mission. He told me that it scared him to think that this happened, but the Lord will watch over me just as he did with Morgan. Your son has put a great inpact on many people through out the world. His mission will continue. I am thankful for this gospel and the understanding that we are only apart for a short time until we meet again. We pray for your family and may God bless you and comfrot you at this most difficult time. Morgan, thank you for your excemple you will always be remembered in our hearts.

Dear Mom, Dad, and Siblings of Morgan Young, I have a son who is 18 and planning to go on a mission.

When we heard the tragic news about Elder Young, I said, Braxton, do you still want to go on a mission? He said, Mom, don't cry, there is no better time to die than when you are a missionary.

He will be assured the celestial kingdom. Didn't you read what the first presidency said? I was humbled by his reaction. As a mom, I can't imagine the pain you are going through. I wanted you to know we love you so very much, even though we haven't met. May you have the Comforter help you through this as only He can.

Dear Young Family;

We want to extend our thoughts and prayers to your family. Although we don't know your son personally, it apparent he was a compassionate missionary and enjoyed his service.

In a recent family eulogy I delivered, I found comfort in the wording and scripture below.

We all know the heavens are open for prayer and comfort. Through Christ, broken hearts are mended and peace replaces anxiety and sorrow.

In the New Testament the apostle John wrote of the promise Jesus made, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you” (John 14:18).

Although no words can ease your sadness, please know that living near your son's companion in Greeley, it effected all of us deeply both in the church and our personal family.

Please accept our thoughts and with Heavenly Fathers help that your sadness will ease.

With Sympathy;

Dear Young Family,

You don't know me, and I don't know you either but I have been greatly touched by the story of your sons sacrifice as I've seen it on the news.

I'm a member of the Church and I have a testimony of both missionary work and the Plan of Salvation, I know you'll see Morgan again.

Please know that you are in my and my families prayers.

With love, a sister in the gospel.

Dear Young Family,

I am a member of the Church in Newport News, Virginia and want to offer my condolences and prayers. I was horrified to turn on my television last Tuesday morning to hear that two Mormon missionaries had been shot in Chesapeake. I said a quick, silent prayer that these young men were okay, but soon heard Elder Morgan Young had passed way. I did not meet your son, but as a convert/member of the Church, I've met many missionaries and have had missionaries for dinner in my home on many occasions. I LOVE the missionaries, elders and sisters alike. I'm saddened that something like this could happen to a missionary doing the Lord's work in Virginia. May the Lord bless your family and bless Elder Young too.

There are no words I can say on how I feel. My memories of Morgan keep coming back to me and puts a smile on my face and an ach in my heart. I reamber the first time he beat me at chess. It was when we were in Zions and he was so delighted and I was a little surprised. Thank you for sharing your family with ours.

To Morgan's family:

We were shocked to read about Elder Young 's death. In fact, despite the picture in the paper and the lengthy article, we tried to disbelieve that it had happened, until we read about his love of ice cream. Elder Young had visited us several times in Charlottesville, Virginia during the late summer and fall, and we had been very impressed by his faith, his love of his mission, and his interest in opening our hearts and minds to LDS theology. He made a tremendous difference in our lives. On his most recent visit, we'd offered him and the other missionary and sponsor some ice cream, and his eyes got really big, and that brilliant smile came over his face, and he shared with us his particular love of it-- this time, it was butter pecan. He will live on in our hearts as a most special young man. We were very impressed with this young man who lived and shared his faith.

We are deeply saddened by your son's passing. We do not know you or Elder Young but we want you to know that we love and appreciate what you and your son have done for the Church. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family members and friends of Elder Young. Although my wife and I have fallen inactive over the past few years, we still have a special place in our hearts and home for any of the missionaries who come to our door. We have met many of the young men and women who have passed through the Richmond Mission and they are all fine young people. In our own way we will miss Morgan.

LETTER FROM HEAVEN

To my dearest family, some things I’d like to say,
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I’m writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there’s no more tears of sadness, here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I’m out of sight,
Remember that I am with you, every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through.
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, “I welcome you.

It’s good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they’ll be here later on.

I need you here badly, you’re part of My plan.
There’s so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.”

God gave me a list of things, that He wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night the day’s chores put to flight-
God and I are closest to you . . . in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned,
Yet if I were to tell you, you wouldn’t understand.

Still, one thing is for certain though my life on earth is o’er.
I’m closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I’d like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who’s in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night . . “My day was not in vain.”

And now I am contented . . . that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up, and on your way you go.

When you’re walking down the street and you’ve got me on your mind;
I’m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it’s time for you to go . . . from that body to be free,
Remember you’re not going . . . you’re coming here to me.

Dearest Brother and Sister Young and family,

I send you my deepest sympathy. I have 3 small children. I often tell people that I wish they wouldn't grow up. How I wish they would stay little so I could protect them forever. But I know I must let them grow and develop to reach their highest potential. That is what I really want for them rather than to keep them safely sheltered. We are so blessed as Latter-Day saints to have the fulness of the Gospel and the joy it brings. May peace be with you.

Dear Young family:

You don't know me and I don't know you. But I have heard about your sons death, and it just breaks my heart. It breaks my heart to think that he died while doing the Lord's work. But we know now, that he is still doing the Lord's work, but in a different and much better place. That is the wonderful thing about this gospel. Is that FAMILIES CAN BE TOGETHER FOREVER. Even though your son is gone, you need to remember that you will see him again. That he is walking side-by-side with the Lord. Watching over you and protecting you. I hope you know that you are in my thoughts and in my prayers. Just remember this- CTR:Choose To Remember. May the Lord bless you and your family.

We love you even though we have never met you because we are all brothers and sisters in the Gospel. I'm sure that your son's mission will continue in the spirit world.

Dear Brother and Sister Young and Family,

We all know that this separation is temporary but it is still difficult when a dearly beloved passes the veil. I live in Canada and when we learned of this tragedy about Elder Young, I felt so sad and all I wanted to do was pray. In doing so, I have realized that our Heavenly Father had a greater plan for our loving Elder Young. All our hearts here in Canada reach out to you and your family in this time of grief and know, that our heavenly father loves you and is always there for you!

Dear Young Family,

Though we have no children of our own, I did lose my father suddenly about 3 years ago. Not only did the Gospel give me strength, but the many entries about my dad that people wrote in this guest book were so comforting. I still look back on them today. We can see the light of Christ in your son's face just in the pictures we have seen. His influence did not only spread throughout Utah and Virginia, but also our family, and many other members out here in New York are also keeping you in their thoughts and prayers. I hope this gives you added comfort during this difficult time.

Dear Young Family:

One of the few times we have been able to bring up the news from home, we read of the death of your son. Our hearts go out to you.

We are presently serving through the church, as teachers, at Ocean University of China in Qingdao for the David Kennedy Center of BYU.

We are certain Morgan Winslow Young, who was named after his grandfather, Winslow Young, was an excellent missionary. We haven't had the privilege of knowing Morgan or you, his parents and siblings, but we do know Winslow.

We go back to days when our mothers worked together in the Relief Society in Farmington, New Mexico and Durango, Colo.; then BYU and recently the Bountiful temple.

We extend out love and sympathy to you all.

Dear Young Family: Our family is very saddend to hear of your son's passing. My husband served in the same mission back in 1971-1973. It was the North Carolina/Virginia Mission at the time. We received a phone call Wed. evening from a member of our church, a elderly woman in Portsmouth that knew your son very well. He and his companion visited with her and her husband she told us. We have kept close contact with her all these years. She cried on the phone and said how much she loved Elder Young and his companion so much. She is now bedridden and feeble. She took such wonderful care of my husband over 30 some years ago when he was back there when his younger brother got killed in a car wreck at home. I mention this little lady to you because she continues to love and care for all of "her missionaires" to this day. She told me that she had given them money to buy snacks as she was not able to get up and cook for them. She said that your son was such a wonderful missionary. Such a small world isn't it?! God bless your family now and forever.

Dear Brother and Sister Young and Family,

I pondered all week what I would say to you. Last May our family experienced the unthinkable, when my 15 year old nephew was killed in a car accident. Nothing can prepare you for that phone call. I am sitting here working on my Primary lesson about the Plan of Salvation. I have come upon a talk by Pres. Kimball about tragedy or destiny. Quote, "The Lord does not always heal the sick. He does not always relieve suffering and distress. These may be part of a purposeful plan. Suffering can make saints of people as they learn patience, long suffering, and self-mastery. The gospel teaches us these is no traged in death, but only in sin. Everyone must die. Death is an important part of life. Death may be the opening of the door to opportunity. In the face of apparent tragedy we must put our trust in God, knowing that despite our limited view His purpose will not fail." You will always be in out prayers.

"Hurrah for Israel"

Even though we don't know you, you are all in our constant thoughts and prayers. Not a day has gone by that we haven't brought up your names and wondered how you are doing. We can only hope that you can feel the arms of our Heavenly Father wrapped tightly around you at this time. Thank you for your example and thank you for your wonderful son. What a sacrifice!! He will be eternally blessed and we are sure you will feel the blessings in your lives as well.

Just reading the entries in this Guest Book gave me chills. How wonderful is the gospel? We are so blessed to have a community that pulls together during times of trials. It has made me so grateful for all that our Father in Heaven has blessed us with.

We will continue to keep your names in our thoughts and prayers.

I was so saddened by the loss of your dear son. Having served a Mission, and knowing of the dangers that exist in the world, I count myself very fortunate to have been protected whle serving on my mission.

May you be consoled with the knowledge that Elder Young was truly in the service of God and His beloved Son, our Redeemer, even Jesus Christ. May you always feel the love of the Savior in your lives and be sure that those whom he served love your son very much.

January 7, 2006

I love to see the outpuring of love and support. I pray that it will continue after the funeral and the coming weeks and months down the road when you will truly need it. I too have lost a child and while there is great comfort in the Gospel and our beliefs the one thing I know is that we are not prepared to deal with the grief aspects of the death of a child. It is soul ripping. I struggled with the whys and the what ifs for awhile and nights seem to be the hardest. While others sleep you lay awake because your mind won't shut down. I was pregnant with our last child when we lost our first and I had read every book that Seagull and Deseret Book carried about death, the second coming and anything eles on those topics. When my dear husband came home with a book called Greiving the Pain and the Promise written by Deanna Edwards it was the first book that really helped me and also helped me to better understand the grieving process. It's not something people talk about and we think that if we don't that it won't ever happen to us. (Death) I'm so sorry for what you must go through but I can say that after almost two and a half years life is beginning to go on again. I have seen many tender mercies. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and you will gain a greater knowledge of just how great his love is the pain that you endure is here in mortality. I as you will go forth with a knowledge of how important it is to continue on and endure so that the pain will only be mortal and not eternal. I know that Heavenly Father has surrounded you with many people who will help bear you up. Those friendships, you will realize are just as eternal as your family. The lessions I have learned have come line upon line and precept upon precept in the quiet hours at night as you ponder and pray. May you find Peace in the Lord our Savior, who is there wathing over you. Stay strong and endure dear brother and sister

as it says in Alma 36-3 For I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up(exalted in celestial glory) at the last day. What a reunion that will be.

Dear Mark and Kathy,

The Lord has a strong need for these valiant young men. He is calling so many of them home. My own son was called home along with eight others on September 26 in the USU van accident. Please just know that although the shock of their loss does not ever go away, we can be comforted to know that the Lord knows what He is doing and that he loves our sons enough to care for them. May you be surrounded by friends and families who love you during this tragic time in your life. It is only through the outpouring of love and support of many who mourn with us that carries us through.

Our family is mourning with you at this time. Our 3 sons served missions and our youngest passed away from brain cancer just short of his 25th birthday. We are so blessed to understand God's plan for our sons, but life will never be the same for those left behind. It is wonderful that we are not left alone. It is exciting that our sons have passed the test and won't have to endure the difficult things of this life. Please know that so many prayers are being offered on your behalf.

We have followed the events of your son's death this past week by reading the Deseret News via e-mail. We extend to you our deepest sympathy. Thank you for the righteous example of Elder Young. Our son currently serves in Eastern Russia. We pray daily for his success and his safety. We cannont imagine the pain of your loss. We do know that our son, as yours, and thousands the world over, love the labor of their work and would sacrifice all for service to Him. Our missionary in a distant land knows about your fine son and the ultimate sacrifice he made. Elder Morgan Young's example will touch the world here and certainly in the eternities. We pray for your family. Again, thank you for your strength, your testimonies and above all for your son, Elder Young.

Remember Me

Remember me when flowers bloom

Early in the spring

Remember me on sunny days

In the fun that summer brings

Remember me in the fall

As you walk though the leaves of gold

And in the wintertime - remember me

In the stories that are told

But most of all remember

Each day - right from the start

I will be forever near

For I live within your heart

I am truly sorry for your loss. Elder Young is a great example to all. What a hard loss your family is going thru, just remember he returned with honor.

Dear Young family,

We offer our deepest condolences, and pray for your peace and deepening understanding of God's mercy and love in calling your son home.

We both are returned missionaries, and understand what it means to go door to door, for so many hours, weeks, days, and years. With the most sincere intentions of spreading the good news of the Salvation of mankind.

These were the words on your sons lips, and in his heart, as he passed away. The word of God.

He is our brother in the missionary cause, and a leader. Morgan was probably more faithful, diligent, and pure than most. For this reason, he recieved a higher call, and has answered to it.

May you all be blessed with all you stand in need of during this difficult time.

I know he is with his family who has gone before him,& teaching the gospel joyfully.May the lord comfort & give them spiritual peace.His parents taught him in the way he should go & he remained faithful to his beliefs & teachings. My heart feels some of their pain but as LDS we know our families can/are forever.

Our sympathy faith and prayers are with you at this time. We suspect that we knew of the family with the Winslow name at earlier times in our lives and regarded them as some of the best we have ever met. Oviously Elder Young was cut out of the same block and had served so well.

To the Young Family:

You have been in my thoughts since I heard the news of your son. Please accept my deepest sympathy on his passing.

I am a mother who lost her 18 year old son in Nov. 2004. He was preparing for his mission. I know now that he is on one of the greatest missions we could ever want for him. I also know that for you this is more painful than words can describe, because I have been there. Your son like my son did not have alot of time here but they both accomplished so much in the short time we had them in our lives.

We found a quote--"Heaven Gives it's Favorites---Early Death". I know that Heavenly Father has grand missions that he needed our sons to participate in and he loves them and needed them back with him to accomplish the work.You have a special angel watching over you and you know his name.

Though I do not know you, I grieve deeply because I know how your lives will change because of this. Just remember "CTR--Choose to Remember" and do those things that Morgan would want you to be doing to be with him again someday.

Also remember that your Heavenly Father loves YOU and will be there in your deepest, darkest moments as you turn to him for comfort.

Wishing I could give you a hug!!!

To the Family of Elder Morgan Young:

I grieve for your loss of such a kind and loving son/missionary. My brother had the privilege of meeting him two weeks prior to his transfer from this mortal life to a greater mission. He said he was kind and gentle and he greatly admired him from the little he knew.

Just from looking at his picture it is obvious that he was a special young man. Having had two sons serve missions myself and having the fear of receiving news such as you, I send my condolences and love to your family that you may endure this difficult time. May you know that your son touched many lives as he lived and that he has touched many more since he has graduated from this life to a better one. Yes, he went HOME...not to the one he left two years ago, but literally HOME where you WILL see him again.

Sometimes when we are ill and have to suffer long periods of time (I have since 1997 and continue to do so) I feel that your son is in a most enviable position. I say that not to worsen your grief, but to hope it will make you know that he was able to live and graduate from this life without such great trials and struggles of the mortal life. He was needed for reasons of which we do not know, but as was previously mentioned in one of the notes to you, he will always be close to you and your family.

May Heavenly Father and His Son be there to guide you through this time of sadness, but may you also know that YOU did a wonderful job in fulfilling your mission to raise your son righteously.

My sincerest condolences to you all.

Dear Young Family,

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. It is wonderful for us to know that we do have eternal families and that we will be together forever someday. It's wonderful to know that not only do you have the support of your immediate family, but you also have the support and prayers of the entire church family. We pray for you and know that with the Lord's help, you will endure this trial. May the Lord bless you always.

Dear Young Family,

Please accept our love and condolences as you grieve the earthly passing of your beloved Missionary. My wife and I are presently serving as missionaries in Sydney, Australia. We especially love and respect the great young Elders and Sisters and know that your son was one of the noble and great ones as well. Years ago, I had the privilege of serving with Brother Tom Page as a Scout Master, to Elder Young's father Mark. My wife and I also had the privilege of knowing Elder Young's grandparents, Winslow and Marlene. You are a great family and your dear missionary son and grandson will be yours forever. May the Lord's choicest blessings comfort you with that knowledge. With love and tender regards, Elder Steve and Sister Sue Olson, Sydney North Mission, Australia

Dear Young Family:

As parents who have also lost a son about the same age, we can only offer two thoughts. One, that the gospel is a great source of comfort at times such as this, and two, that the sorrow of such a loss is incomprehensible until you are called to go through it. May the Lord bless your family now and in the days, weeks, and years to come.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your son. I understand how it feels to lose someone so close, but it brings me so much comfort to know that they are in a beautiful place and back home with Him. I did not know Elder Young, but was deeply touched by the story. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family, friends, and neighbors, and loved ones.

January 6, 2006

Dear Young Family,

I like many others in this guest book do not know your son or your family but I too have been so touched by this tragedy. I am so sorry for your loss. Death is so difficult to deal with in this life, and though we are blessed with an eternal perpective, it isn't always easy to have while we are experiencing the sadness of being apart from a loved one. I pray for peace and comfort to be with your sweet family. From the moment I heard the story on the news and saw your sweet son's face, I was touched. I know that he is continuing his mission in the next life, I also believe that part of his new mission will be to watch out for and take care of each of you until you are reunited in the eternities. Much love and prayers,

To the Family of Elder Young,

Last February we lost our Son, Brother, Uncle to a car accident. He was 19 years old. We can feel your pain. We also know where he is now. This has helped me (his mother) to get through these last 10 months. The next few weeks will be really hard for all of you, please remember to turn to each other and to Heavenly Father for comfort. You may also feel free to turn to us if you would like to. I would like the opportunity to share Richard's memory with you and hear about Morgan from you. I also have a poem that has helped me get through this time that I would like to send you.

My words are few among many on this guest book, but I wanted to tell you how much this has saddened me. Missionary moms live in fear of such things, I think. I have 2 sons currently serving missions, and one of them was probably at the MTC the same time as your son, as he is due home in March. Isn't it a wonderful blessing to know where he is and what he is doing? I'm sorry that you won't be able to share his life here, of marriage and family, but he is doing the Lord's work, and he will not miss out on any of the opportunities to have a wife and family for the eternities. God be with you.

I don't know Morgan Young. But I heard it on the news and I felt so bad that I wanted to let you know how sorry I am. Has I was reading through the Guest Book of your son. I had chills through my body and my eyes where full. I know that Brother Young is in a better place and like many people have said before he his on his mission still. I know that doesn't make the pain go away and doesn't make the questions that you must have asked to your selfs.. But I know that Heavenly Father will be there for you and he will carry you through this.. Brother Young will always watch over you, and be your little angel here on earth. I know in my heart you will see him again.. For the pictures that I have seen he seem to be a cute young man that truly loves his heavenly father and his family. I know that you will meet again..

Your family has been in my prayers.

Dear Brother and Sister Young and family,

I served with your son as his companion in VA Beach, VA for three months. I was shocked and saddened by his death. Nevertheless, I know that he died doing what he did best, being a humble and compassionate servant of the Lord, Jesus Christ. May the Spirit continue to strive with you all, and see you through this time of brief separation from your son.

TO WHERE YOU ARE

Who can say for certain

Maybe you're still here

I feel you all around me

Your memory's so clear

Deep in the stillness

I can hear you speak

You're still an inspiration

Can it be

That you are my

Forever love

And you are watching over me

From up above

Fly me up to where you are

Beyond the distant star

I wish upon tonight

To see you smile

If only for awhile

To know you're there

A breath away's not far

To where you are

Are you gently sleeping

Here inside my dream

And isn't faith believing

All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you

Just one beat away

I cherish all you gave me

Everyday

'Cause you are my

Forever love

Watching me

From up above

And I believe

That angels breathe

And that love will live on

And never leave

Fly me up to where you are

Beyond the distant star

I wish upon tonight

To see you smile

If only for awhile

To know you're there

A breath away's not far

To where you are

I know you're there

A breath away's not far

To where you are

What a blessing it is to have the Gospel in our life's! "I know" the pain of losing a son. I have a special missionary on the other side. It is knowing what we know that brings the peace,comfort and assurance, that gives comfort.I'm sure the Lord knew Elder Young really did with all his heart want to reach "More people". He Has! And he will as this unfolds to the world and those who are on the other side, hearing the gospel. The example your family has is making the work spread." Thank You" I find it all very interesting of the attitudes differance with those who lost the 12 miners. We know and except the Lords hand in our life. The world has need for ALL who have the Lords Truth to give All we can in Love and Sharing His Word. Our prayers are with all those who knew and loved him.

We are so sorry for your loss. You guys are an amazing example of faith and strength, and you are all in our thoughts and our prayers.

I know what this loss feels like. My son Ryan was killed seventeen months ago when a baseball hit him in the neck in the batting cages at Copper Hills High School.

I can tell you that in time the sadness and grief become easier to bear, and, like you said in your press conference, you'll always be so proud of your son, and the life he lived.

The belief we share that our sons are in a better place, and that they are happy, and that they are busy with the Lord's work definitely helps bring a sense of peace through this terrible loss.

I love that you told the news reporters that you are still a family of 6. Not only are you still a family of 6, you have a very special member of your family watching over all of you from above.

You have to know you have so many people thinking about you, and praying for you. This will give you the strength you need to get through the upcoming weeks and months.

My son Ryan was an amazing young man. He was 17 years old, just about to begin his senior year in high school. One of my greatest sources of comfort come in knowing that he is now surrounded by so many other amazing young people who have been called to work on the other side. I'm sure that Ryan has met your son Morgan by now, and that the journey they are embarking on at this time is truly an amazing work.

May God Bless you all.

You don't know me and my family and we don't know you but we feel your grief. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours. We want you to know that although we don't know your family we love and respect you and have shed tears for your son. We have had three sons serve honorable missions, our last one returning home on the 20th of December. We know that this will be a boast to the missionary work as people will want to know about the church and why your son was willing to put his life in danger for it and the good that your son's death will do. My son, Joe,who just returned from the Arkansas-Little Rock Mission always says God knows the big picture and things happen for a reason. The Lord loves you a lot to trust you with such a valiant spirit and we pray he will put his arms around you and your family at this time. Be assured God loves you and will help you pass through this Temporal seperation until sometime in the future you will have your homecoming in Heaven. We have a friend from Wellington who just went to be with her son who was assassinated in Bolivia in 1989 and what a grand reunion it must have been. If there is anything at all that we can do to help you just ask and it is yours.

I wanted to let you know that your family has been in my thoughts and prayers this week. I just finished watching you on the news and I shed tears through most of it. Most were tears of happiness that Elder Young completed his mission here on earth and most definitely, "RETURNED WITH HONOR" What a better place to pass on, serving the Lord. I have two sons which will me mission age in next 8 years and I hope and pray they will be diligent missionaries like Elder Young. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with your family and the thousands of missionaries serving the Lord. To Elder Morgan Young, Well done thou good and faithful servant!

Dear Young Family - You don't know us, but we share your feelings at this time. Our 19-year-old son is just now leaving the MTC for his field of labor in Dallas, Texas, so we understand the joy and happiness of having a son serve a mission for the Lord. Our 17-year-old son, on the other hand, took his life 10 weeks ago, so we also understand the grief and pain of losing a son. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Mark..this old co-worker wants you to know you are in her prayers. I know first hand how it feels to loose a child and my heart aches for you and your family. I also want to share with you a hymn that I am sure conveys the way Morgan felt about serving the Lord...

It may not be on the mountain height

Or over the stormy sea,

It may not be at the battle’s front

My Lord will have need of me.

But if, by a still, small voice he calls

To paths that I do not know,

I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine:

I’ll go where you want me to go.

I’ll go where you want me to go, dear Lord,

Over mountain or plain or sea;

I’ll say what you want me to say, dear Lord;

I’ll be what you want me to be.

Perhaps today there are loving words

Which Jesus would have me speak;

There may be now in the paths of sin

Some wand’rer whom I should seek.

O Savior, if thou wilt be my guide,

Tho dark and rugged the way,

My voice shall echo the message sweet:

I’ll say what you want me to say.

[Chorus]

I’ll go where you want me to go, dear Lord,

Over mountain or plain or sea;

I’ll say what you want me to say, dear Lord;

I’ll be what you want me to be.

There’s surely somewhere a lowly place

In earth’s harvest fields so wide

Where I may labor through life’s short day

For Jesus, the Crucified.

So trusting my all to thy tender care,

And knowing thou lovest me,

I’ll do thy will with a heart sincere:

I’ll be what you want me to be.

I’ll go where you want me to go, dear Lord,

Over mountain or plain or sea;

I’ll say what you want me to say, dear Lord;

I’ll be what you want me to be.

Endure to the end my friend.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. I absolutely know that your Son is even more alive and well than we are, and that you will have a joyful reunion someday and then spend the eternities with him. I had a near death experience, years ago, and spent a bit of time on the other side, and saw and heard and felt enough to know that it is all real. I was blessed to be found by the Missionaries in Illinois in 1978, when I was 19 years of age, and then I was blessed to go on a mission four years later. I am so grateful for the Gospel and its teachings and truthfulness. May God bless you all with peace and solace at this time and with the assurance that you will see and be with your son again.

Brother and Sister Young and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I wanted to send my deepest condolences to you at this difficult time. The Lord needed a faithful, obedient and kind missionary for the legions who still need to hear the gospel on the other side and Elder Young fit the bill. I am so grateful to know that families are forever and the saddness you feel now will be as a fleeting moment when you are reunited. I mourn with you and will remember you in my prayers. The Lord is merciful and will comfort and bless you and sustain you. I hope you will have peace and find joy in the memories you have with Morgan and that you will know that he lives on in your hearts. Much love and sorrow to you all and May Heavenly Father bless you with an outpouring of his love to fill your hearts and minds with comfort.
