Paxton Norton Obituary

July 13, 2010 ~ July 17, 2013
Our most precious angel, Paxton, returned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his appointed time. Having conquered three extraordinary years in this mortal journey, seldom has one so young touched the hearts of so many.
Paxton is our hero, our Pacman, our Champ; the light, joy, and love of our lives.
His special body housed an unconquerable spirit. Paxton was born on July 13, 2010 at 4:04pm with chromosomal Deletion 7q22.3-31.1, the only one of his kind. He endured dozens of surgeries and countless illnesses, and spent close to 1/3 of his life in the hospital, but this was not the statement of his life. All who knew him were amazed by his most pure and simple love of living. He embraced every moment with rocking side-to-side, looking up, looking towards the light, tilting his chin back in smiles and laughter, and reaching out to touch our faces and connect with our souls.
We believe Paxton signed up for a 3-year mission and on his third birthday he was ready to go Home. Family and dear loved ones gathered to express their love and say goodbye to Paxton in his last days before he was honorably released.
Paxton passed peacefully in the arms of his loving parents, freed from all earthly constraints and struggles, into the loving arms of our Savior and family who had gone before him. Also present were his grandparents and two older brothers.
Paxton is survived by his mommy and daddy, Shannon & David, and his two animated brothers, Camden (6) & Mackay (4).
Paxton's brothers will miss making him laugh, rolling the ball to him, helping him sit up, pushing his wheelchair, carrying his bags, picking up his tubing, climbing over his crib to kiss him goodnight, playing with him at dinner, doing family cheers of "Goooo Paxton!", and simply having him be a part of everything we did together as a family.
Our hearts are full of gratitude for Paxton's larger-than-life fan club: his family, friends, and loved ones who have prayed, supported, sacrificed, loved, and cheered on his mighty spirit; his incredibly loving and skilled nurses; his amazing doctors, technicians, therapists, and caregivers - at home, and at Primary Children's Medical Center, who did all they could for Paxton during his three years of life and became our friends; the worldwide friends and fellow members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who have shared in our pain, love, and overwhelming joy of Paxton's victories. He is truly our beloved Champ. Our love and gratitude for your warmth and impact upon our lives is immeasurable.
If there is one thing we know for sure, it's that Paxton knew he was loved. Our hearts will be forever grateful for his innocent, perfect, deep and abounding love he showed to us. We know, now, our sweet angel will be teaching and guiding us from above. 'Til we meet again, our sweet Paxton, may God be with you and help us to secure our seats with you above. We will always honor, miss and love you with all of our hearts.
We welcome friends to join with us in celebration of his life on Monday at 12 p.m., at the Highland Utah West Stake Center (11605 N 6000 W). There will be a viewing also at the stake center on Sunday evening from 6:30-8 p.m., and Monday from 10:00-11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Primary Children's Medical Center, SLC, UT, in loving memory of Paxton. primarychildrens.thankyou4caring.org

I'm Mackay, and a fun memory with my brother is when his doctor came in the morning at 5 a.m. I was there with Paxton cuddling him and making sure he felt safe.

May God Bless you and comfort you during this time of heartbreak. I too know how much it hurts to lose a child. I also lost a special little Angel to (Neuroblastomia, Cancer)A little boy He was 3yrs.-8 mo. 'Jamie' nickname, named after his Dad, James David...
I too know how much it hurts, but -I being a member of the LDS Church- I know where he is now and that the Lord is watching over him. And as your son is, he is sealed to our family and I know if we stay worthy we will see and be with him again. I am thankful for that knowledge, and opportunity. I Thank the Lord for the time that I was given to be his mother and take care of him and have his Love and accept the Love he had to offer in return.
Know that I and others feel your pain and also know the that, through the plan of our Heavenly Father, that we will be a 'Together Family' again.
Love and Prayers are sent your way from our family to yours!

I remember being deeply touched by the details shared of your sweet Paxton last April conference. Tears streamed down my face that day, as his picture was shown on the television. I have a little guy not much younger than sweet Paxton, and could relate to what a sweet gift this precious soul was to your family.
I hope and pray that you find comfort in knowing that your son touched so many. His 3 year mission can now continue on the other side where I'm sure there will be much success.
He is a cute, handsome, sweet, little boy. His story has touched my heart profoundly, and I hope that knowledge brings you comfort. Much Love!

Dave and Shannon, our hearts go out to you both and we send our love and deepest condolences to you and your entire extended families. Christina and I know first-hand the anguish experienced by parents whose children's lives hang by a thread. We lived through a life-threatening experience a year ago when our daughter was in a coma. Words cannot quench the pain. But, as you both well know, the sweet comfort of the Spirit can bring peace that is so desperately needed, and encircle you about with the warmth of Heavenly Father's love. You are both such stellar examples of faith, love, hope. And, your faith will be rewarded when you are reunited with dear Paxton again and get to fulfill roles and experiences temporarily cut short. May God continue to bless and support you and yours. Our love and prayers have been, and will continue to be, with you during this difficult time.
