1950 ~ 2012|
Richard Lewis Griffin, 62, our loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend left his earthly home on November 21, 2012 due to complications from two rather rare diseases, Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy and Frontotemporal Degeneration.
He was lovingly greeted in the Spirit World by his father, father-in-law and grandparents.
He was born to Lewis Lorenzo Griffin and Opal Jean Whitaker on July 8, 1950.
Being the oldest of eight children, Richard was looked up to and admired by his six brothers and one sister.
In 1968 Richard graduated from Provo High School and then went on to serve an LDS mission to the Philippine Islands. Richard married Teresa Kay Matthews on February 13, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. Following the birth of their two children, he graduated from UVCC and BYU.
His greatest loves in life were his family, gardening, the great outdoors, hunting and fishing, watching sports, and his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He left behind a legacy of hard work, dedication and amazing green-thumb skills.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; son David (Chantell) Griffin, Perry, UT; daughter Lacey (Tyler) Ivins, Blanding, UT; four granddaughters: Maddison, Aspyn, Brynlee, and Chezney; two grandsons: Jaxton and baby boy Griffin; his mother, brothers, and sister.
