Richard Neal Paul Obituary
1937 ~ 2013
Our beloved husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on New Years Day after a short but valiant battle with cancer. He was 75 years young.
Richard was born in Riverside, California, on March 25, 1937, to Harry Oscar Paul and Mary Maathius. He married his high school sweetheart in the Los Angeles Temple on June 14, 1958, while attending college at Rice University in Houston, Texas. After college he moved with his young family to Salt Lake City, Utah, and began a teaching career that spanned nearly three decades, spending most of his tenure at Cyprus High School and Kennedy Junior High School. He was divorced in 1979, but soon found, fell in love with, and married his best friend and love for the rest of his life, Paula Webb. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 5, 1980, and were inseparable from that time forward.
Richard served diligently in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved teaching Gospel Doctrine classes. He was a faithful Home Teacher and magnified all the callings he was given, but especially dear to his heart were the 33 years he served in the Salt Lake Temple. He truly found joy in being in the house of the Lord.
Richard is survived by his wife, Paula, his children, Jennifer Harris, Anne (Bill) Rowe, Kay (Baven) Forbush, Steven (Lourdes) Paul, Rebecca Miller, Robert (Afton) Paul, and Emily Paul together with his brothers and sisters - Toby, Wally, Ruth, and Tom - as well as a host of extended family including 22 grandchildren and, by the end of 2013, he will have 16 great-grandchildren. He has gone to the house of his Father to prepare a place for his posterity. He was loved by all in life and he will be missed by those he has left behind, however, we that remain are blessed to know that we will be together forever in the eternities.
A viewing will be held Sunday, January 6, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Western Hills Stake Center at 5380 W 5400 S, Kearns, Utah. Funeral to be held on Monday, January 7, 2013, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by services at 11:00 a.m.
