Parky's obituary says much of my dear brother-in-law yet there is much more. He was a jewel. He knew us all and kept in touch in multiple ways. We were very proud of him and grateful for his many kindnesses. He was always interested and always encouraging. Two days before his passing he called to remember his father's birthday and to check in as he so often did.

"Parky" became our family doctor when we first came to live in the Desert 40 years ago. We have admired him both professionally and for his compassion. He was everything that a doctor was supposed to be. On a wall in his waiting room he had displayed a photograph of himself with Mother Teresa. We asked for--and he gave us-- a copy of it, which occupies a place in our scrapbook of remarkable friends.

Richard's uncle, Albert Hobbs Parkinson, was my maternal grandfather. After reading the obituary of this fine man I feel a loss for not having known him. Kindest regards and condolences to his family.
