Robert Jordan Obituary
Robert Edwin Jordan
1942 - 2012
Robert Edwin Jordan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from the effects of cancer. Bob was born on November 20, 1942 in Murray Utah to Herbert Wayne and Martha Dorothy Bugay Jordan.
After attending Murray High School, Bob served honorably in the United States Army from 1960-64 in Germany. He married Linda Kay Parks in 1966 and had two children, Michelle and Bret. He began his career in the parts department at Montek, a small start-up company later acquired by E-Systems, Raytheon, and Moog, and became a Sr. Program Manager/Engineer. He retired in 2011 following 45 years of employment with the Montek Division. He participated in the development of TACAN (Tactical Air Navigation System), the guidance system used on space shuttles and in the military. Bob was known in his field for his intelligence, tenacity, loyalty, and attention to detail. Because of his roots in the parts department and his near photographic memory he could list the parts and their part numbers for every project he managed. He was a gifted mathematician and artist, being brilliant with numbers, equations, diagrams, and explanations.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda; their daughter Michelle and son Bret (Amy); his grandchildren: Mallory, Matthew, Sarah, Rebekah, and Mary; his brothers Larry and Jerry; and his sister Shauna Lee. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Beverly (Pitt) and grandson Colton Martinez.
A viewing and funeral service will be held Friday, September 21 at 11:00 AM at Goff Mortuary (8090 South State Street, Midvale, UT) followed by a graveside service at 12:00 noon at the Sandy City Cemetery (9000 South 700 East). www.goffmortuary.com
