RUTH TUTTLE Obituary

Ruth Jensen Tuttle 1920 ~ 2009 Our sweet and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Ruth Jensen Tuttle, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2009 with her family by her side. She was born August 9, 1920 in Manti, Utah, a daughter of Lewis Martin and Jessie Wintch Jensen. She married Wayne Keller Tuttle on July 26, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple. They would spend the next 62 years side by side until Wayne's death on October 23, 2008. Ruth graduated from BYU with a degree in Education. She taught in Manti, Utah and at Scera Park Elementary for 26 years and was loved by all her students. In 1945, she served in the Central States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ruth, Wayne and family fulfilled a labor mission to New Zealand and a restoration mission at Nauvoo. Ruth and Wayne took great joy in supervising the building of the Manilla, Phillippines Temple. Their last mission was spent in Israel at the BYU Jerusalem Center. Ruth was a faithful visiting teacher and enjoyed working in the Mt. Timpanogos and Provo Temples. She also loved her calling in the Orem Hillcrest Stake Relief Society Presidency. Ruth loved music and was a gifted pianist. She loved to do handiwork, was a gifted seamstress and made beautiful porcelain dolls that she shared with her family. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was an example of what it means to be truly Christ-like. She never met anyone without giving them a big hug. She had a way of making you feel like you were her best friend, but with Ruth it came from the heart. She endeared herself to many people who will miss her sweet smile and those great hugs. She left this world a better place. Survivors include her five children: Eric (Mary) Tuttle of Orem; Laura (Louis) Erickson, of Orem; Dale-deceased (Becky) Tuttle, of Orem; Karen (Gene) Robison of Orem; and Glen (Eileen) Tuttle, of Alpine, UT. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren as well as her two sisters, Helen Wilson of Manti, Utah; and Clara DeGraff of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, son Dale, and brother Robert Jensen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillcrest 8th Ward Chapel, 1035 South 800 East, Orem. Friends may call Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, and also Wednesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Manti Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LDS General Missionary Fund. It was a great privilege to become acquainted with Ruth before she died. I felt such an instant connection with her and know she was and is a great soul. May the Lord truly be with you as you grieve and sustain your faith in His promises for the faithful.
