1973 ~ 2013|
Saofa'i "Smurf" Sautia, age 39, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 26, 2013 in Brigham City, UT.
Born Dec. 4, 1973 in Samoa, raised by Alatina and Fiatuiga Sautia in California before eventually settling in Utah where he met and fell in love with Dana Baker. They married on May 31, 2004.
"Smurf", as he is affectionately known, had several passions in life. He was a devoted family man and friend to all. Judgmental of none he served without hesitation by lending a helping hand no matter the hour. He was a steward of his neighborhood whose presence will be sorely missed. While working for Penhall or providing transportation to citizens or celebrities, he treated all equally.
He was a plain spoken man, wise beyond words whose compassion and friendship created irreplaceable bonds with his "Bud"s from work. All were "Weiser" for having known him.
Smurf loved having anyone and everyone over for beers and barbecue. He took pride in his yard and in decorating a home where all were welcome.
Home was where his daughters eagerly awaited his return. This was their special time with him outside where he was creating a haven for his family. He was a doting father whose world revolved around his girls. In turn, they would do anything for daddy.
There was no "in-law" when it came to Smurf, only a son and brother who is absolutely adored by his nieces and nephews.
He loved: fishing, playing dominos, family cruises, cheering for the Lakers, gardening and watching the news. He also enjoyed working with his hands, setting off out-of-state fireworks and sitting by the fireplace in the backyard or by the cooler in the front. He was a genuine man with a great sense of humor and a unique perspective on life.
Survived by his wife Dana, daughters Kenna-13, Kylee-8 and Kenlee-3. Parents, Alatina and Fiatuiga Sautia (California) and Pauna and Malia Sautia (Samoa), Geoffrey and Dolly Baker (Utah) and many brothers and sisters from Samoa, U.S.A., N.Z. and Australia.
Preceded in death by his mother Sui Sautia.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund in his name has been setup at Mountain America Credit Union.
